@@@@ News from Pigeon Falls-The little town in my garage where the trains still run, dragons fly, and people are very much afraid of sleep.– Yesterday Mayor Trumble called a town meeting. She had everyone who was interested in The Dream come to the gazebo at the center of town at 6:00 in the afternoon. Then she called on the people of Pigeon Falls to stop letting The Dream run their lives. They needed to ignore it and go on with the task of raising families , planting crops, working at their jobs, and doing all the normal things they would do if The Dream had never happened. It is highly possible that Alex Mattson’s dream state has nothing whatsoever to do with The Dream. In any case they can change nothing by spending all week fretting over the Saturday dream. She called on people to begin planning to make this year’s Pigeon Days the best and biggest ever.
The speech seemed to help. A number of people volunteered to take on various Pigeon Days tasks. People seemed less tense after the meeting than they did before. As the meeting was breaking up the White Rabbit walked across the street at the end of the town and waved at everybody. They thought that was a good sign and even Mrs. Trumble seemed happy to see him.
Nancy says people are talking about things other than The Dream and she hopes the whole Dream thing is over. Some have even asked about her wedding plans.

Just a reminder that the first drawing for our new contest will be tomorrow. You will receive one chance for each comment you have left since last Friday and one chance for every comment left on the Today's LINK (limit one a day in either category) . That means you could have fourteen chances. The chances do not carry over. The prizes, of course, are priceless.

Fast Forward from Ralph 17

Saying for the Day: One letter lost can change the world.

My good friend Ralph forwards all kinds of things to me in my E-mail every day. On Wednesday
I choose one of those and share it with you. Here is today's:

Monastery Life

A young monk arrives at the monastery. He is assigned to helping the other monks in copying the old canons and laws of the church by hand.

He notices, however, that all of the monks are copying from copies, not from the original manuscript. So, the new monk goes to the head abbot to question this, pointing out that if someone made even a small error in the first copy, it would never be picked up! In fact, that error would be continued in all of the subsequent copies.

The head monk, says, "We have been copying from the copies for centuries, but you make a good point, my son."

He goes down into the dark caves underneath the monastery

where the original manuscripts are held as archives in a locked

vault that hasn't been opened for hundreds of years. Hours go

by and nobody sees the old abbot.

So, the young monk gets worried and goes down to look for him. He sees him banging his head against the wall and wailing.

"We missed the R ! We missed the R !

We missed the R !"

His forehead is all bloody and bruised and he is crying

uncontrollably. The young monk asks the old abbot, "What's wrong, father?"

With A choking voice, the old abbot replies,

"The word was...

CELEB"R"ATE !!!"

@@@@ News from Pigeon Falls– the little town in my garage where the trains still run, dragons fly, and the Liar’s Club still meets. Buddy East who is President and High Grand Liar of the Liar’s Club has appointed the committee to begin preparing for the local Liar’s club contest that is held every year in conjunction with Pigeon Days. The basic rules carry over from year to year. The story must seem to be true even though everybody knows that it can’t be. The writer must read the story in public from the gazebo in the center of town. Every year more and more people take part. There is no central theme for the stories.
Nellie Matson who is a relative of Alex Mattson even though Alex spells his last name with two Ts says that why bother to plan for a contest when everybody will be sleeping and there won’t be anybody left to tell stories. Buddy East said that by the time of the contest our Prince and Princess will have arrived, kissed us, and we will all be awake again. Now there is a story right there.
Nancy is telling people in her shop that they have to stop thinking like that. She blames Petrovich and his translations. We have to live our life everyday and not spend it worrying about falling asleep and not waking up. There are things that need doing. There are kids to be played with. There are vacations to plan. John Bergall says that he agrees and he is going home and start on this years story. He intends to win that contest.

The Bergalls , Nancy, and Buddy East may be able to ignore The Dream but most of the people in Pigeon Falls just can’t. They are sure that the Saturday night is coming when they will fall asleep and never wake up again. They will all be like poor Alex who still lies in the Iron Mountain hospital. The only problem is there won’t be enough hospital beds for the entire town. With nobody to care for them they will sleep until they die of hunger or thirst. People in Pigeon Falls have terrible imaginations.

Finland Day

Mieluinen jotta meidän Tiistai Suomi sivu

Welcome to our Tuesday Finland Page

First our Video of the day:

Then our Finnish phrase for the week:

. Drive quietly on the bridge.

Aja hiljaa sillalla

(Taken from a sign, this Finnish sentence is said to be one of the most pleasant-sounding of all the world's languages.)

@@@@ News from Pigeon Falls— the little town in my garage where the trains still run, dragons fly, and people are very much afraid of Saturday– Alex Mattson is still in the hospital and still very much asleep. They have given him a variety of tests and he does not seem to have had a stroke or anything like that. He seems to be in very good health but they just can’t wake him up.
People in Pigeon Falls are saying this is what happens when you die in The Dream. You don’t die in real life but you don’t wake either. This scares them even more because the Blue Plaque is coming and they could all end up like Alex.
Tommy UK suggested that since this whole thing has a fairy tale quality to it they should find a princess to come and kiss Alex. He would then wake up. Job’s Daughters has a Princess or two but none of them want to go and kiss Alex. Besides! Wouldn’t they have to marry him and live happily ever after?
All they want to talk about at Nancy’s coffee shop is The Dream. Many have now gone to Petrovich's Website and read dribblets 101 and 102. Everyone is asking where the box is. How can they burn the box if they can’t find it? Nancy wants to talk about her up coming wedding but there is no chance of that happening. Even the band members that collapsed yesterday which would ordinarily have been the topic of discussion have been replaced by talk of The Dream.

@@@@ News of Pigeon Falls– the little town in my garage where the trains still run, dragons fly, and people still celebrate Memorial Day– It is Memorial Day in Pigeon Falls and as they have for as long as anybody can remember they will celebrate as only small towns can celebrate. There will be a parade starting at the town hall and marching out to the cemetery. It will be lead by the High School Band. Almost everyone that ever served in the military will put on their old uniform and march behind the band. At the cemetery they will place wreaths on the monuments to soldiers who died in every war. Then the band will play Taps. If it is hot and it looks like it will be today some of the band members will collapse as others have before them. A makeshift stage will be set up and some politician will speak on those who went away and never came back, In the middle of his speech the loudspeaker system will fail. It does every year. After the service people will put flowers on the graves of loved ones. People will remember. It is a day for memories.

Who Am I Really?

Saying for the Day-WE are never as good as we think we are nor as bad as our enemies believe us to be.

If you watch Soaps then you know that there are no bad people on them. Everybody thinks of themselves as good. No matter how bad an act they commit , no matter how many terrible things they do, they see themselves as good . The rest of the world is evil.
How do you vision yourself. I suspect you see yourself as one of the good people, a nice person. If you have an argument or a fight with somebody it is their fault not yours.
But God sees us as we really are. He is outside of our personal soap. The things we hide from others and even from ourselves are not hidden from God.
The amazing thing is that God sees us as we are and still loves us. He sees the extremely rude, angry, cranky, miserable retired man of the cloth and he still loves him. Then in his love he lets us see ourselves as we are. This not to punish us but to let us know that as his child we can change. We can learn to love people as they are. We can learn to be kind and caring . We have Jesus giving us an example to follow.
Thank you Lord.

@@@@ News from Pigeon Falls– the little town in my garage where the trains still run, dragons fly, and some people sleep a long time.-Yesterday people waited to find out if Alex Mattson, who had died in The Dream, had died in real life. Alex lives alone on what used to be a farm. People started calling the house at about 8:00 in the morning but he didn’t answer. Finally Eino and the local constable went to visit him. They pounded on the door but there was no answer. Finally Eino found an unlocked window and crawled in. He opened the door and let the constable in. They went to Alex’s bedroom and there he was sound asleep. He was not dead. They were so relieved. But then they realized they couldn’t wake him up. They called the doctor. The doctor couldn’t find anything wrong but had him taken to the hospital in Iron Mountain for observation and some tests.
Word spread through the town that if you died in The Dream you didn’t die in real life but you didn’t wake up either.
Eino said it may be that Alex had some problem in real life that caused him to die in The Dream . It didn’t have to be that The Dream caused his problem.
People , who had read Petrovich’s latest translations of the old Russian Prophets dribblets said this is just what the seer predicted. People where going to the internet and Petrovich’s Website and reading for themselves.

Read a Good Book

Saying for the day-You are what you read.

As I was sitting yesterday reading the latest issue of “ Classic Toy Trains” I thought of Alastair . Here I was reading about how to make three different kinds of fake water and Alastair was reading deep Christian material. I was reading how to make little model buildings look old and he was reading how to take the old , old faith and share it with a modern audience. I can now tell you about six Lionel fakes being offered on E-Bay but Alastair can tell you of a whole bunch of ways to enrich worship in a whole variety of churches.
A wise man once said that its not what we eat that determines what we are but what we read. If that’s true I’m reading all the wrong stuff.
I went through my most recent reading material there were fifteen science fiction novels, three train magazines, a large bound book on dragons, and a book by the Pope. As one who feels called to share Christ with the world I am reading all the wrong stuff.
The horrible thing is like a person who eats the wrong food I probably won’t change. I may get one of those books that Alastair reads. I might even plod through it but then I’ll be back to “Classic Toy Trains” and the next Harry Potter novel. It could be a sign of addiction or approaching senility.

@@@@ News from Pigeon Falls- The little town in my garage where the trains still run, dragons fly, and people dream The Dream-It is Saturday and this morning at 2:00 o’clock the entire community ( all those that were sleeping) found themselves in Oiseaux Morts .Large numbers of them had gathered in the town square with the news that the Blue Plaque was now two towns away. They gathered around Petrovich, the wizard, who claims to be able to protect them from the Plague. A few have brought what little gold they own. Petrovich says it is not nearly enough. He needs to melt it down and make a circle of old around the town. The circle and a few magic words will keep the Plaque out.
Father Moe says that is so much nonsense. If the prayers of the church and the blessing of the town by the good Bishop doesn’t protect the town it can’t be protected. God is punishing them for their sins. They need to repent.
Just at that moment one of the two gargoyles protecting the town hall fell and crushed Alex Mattson . By the time the healing Monk arrived he was dead. What a horrible way to die. Alex’s head was caught in the mouth of the gargoyle. It was as if some creature had attacked him.
It was at this point that the dream ended. Now the question everyone was asking is will he be dead in the real world?
Will he be dead? Will the whole town die? Will that which is not and can not be save them. Will Petrovich get enough gold? And of course is Tommy UK really the undertaker’s kid?

Change goes on

Saying for the day- Of the building of Linnas there was no end.

The new logo is. Of course, a real Linna. It is one of a large number of Finnish Linnas you can get to through Google. When I first saw it I fell in love with it. So now it is my new logo.
You will also notice that the Finnish word of the day is gone. I am not sure how one can see that something isn’t there but it isn’t. There will be a new Finnish word every Tuesday on Finnish Tuesday and there will be a Finnish video. I don’t know how long that will last.
The weekly drawing will be back next Friday. You will get one chance for every comment on my blog during the week ( limit one per day) and one chance for every time you comment on a link and include the Dr. John. On Friday we will draw from those chances for a new priceless prize.
I feel sure that other changes will also follow. You will note that Pigeon Falls is in another one of those life or death crisis. It could cease forever.
I hope you have a great day and that no telephone salespeople bother you.

@@@@ News from Pigeon Falls-The little town in my garage where the trains still run, dragons fly, and Petrovich has finished his translating.– Petrovich announced at Nancy’s that he has finished the two dribblets that he thinks relate to The Dream. You can see the translations on his website by clicking HERE. He says he has checked and double checked the translations. He has talked to experts in Old Russian. He is certain that the translations are solid. The problem is they do not bode well for Pigeon Falls. If they apply , and Petrovich thinks they do , to Pigeon Falls as “ the city of the birds” then Pigeon Falls is doomed. Everyone will die in the dream and the town will cease. He did not want to say this and that’s why he has checked and double checked the translations. He knows that he was sort of wrong the last time but what happened was close to the dribblet. He takes no joy in the translation since he is part of The Dream and will perish with the rest of them. He has gone over and over the translation looking for a way out. But the vision precludes both the church and magic of the wizard. There I ssome language about burn the box but what box. Where do you find the box. What is that which is not and can not be ? No! In Petrovich’s mind there can be no way out. They will all die.
People with the internet have been checking out Petrovich’s website all morning. It is the talk of Pigeon Falls. People are looking for a way out. How does one escape The Dream? If Petrovich had just shown them the dribblets they would have laughed at him but they have experienced The Dream. They know that part of the prophecy is real. They are trying to decide what is the box. If they can’t find it how can they burn it. One can’t go around burning every box in town.
The that which is not and can not be could have fit the poltergeist but it is gone. Besides it wasn’t into burning but wetting. Now people are really getting scared.

Move the furniture

Saying for the day: “We must be the change we wish to see in the world.” Gandhi.
It is that time of year when people feel a need to move things around. The old chair in the living room that was right buy the door now looks better over by the fireplace. All across the country furniture is shifting. Winter has passed and we feel a need to make things new.
I have seen that feeling in action on the blogs the last few days. A good number of people have new layouts. Logos are new, colors have changed , blogs are being rearranged.
I feel the need for change as well. When you come tomorrow there will be a new fortress. This one might even fit the space and not run down into the date.
Other changes, of course, will follow. I will get rid of the Finnish word for the day and replace it with Finnish Tuesday. There will be some Finnish videos and some Finnish words . “Leave a Comment Monday” will stay the same as to theme but the content will soon vary. The other constant will be “Forward by Ralph” which seems to be well received.
I am bringing back the Friday drawings because I enjoyed them but the format will change a bit. I am giving thought to a new blog marathon because I really like people to read other people’s blogs.
We are working at making videos so we can share with you the house, the office and , of course, the dog. ( Perhaps just a little of the grandkids).
So soon my internet living room will have all the furniture moved around and some thrown out. Come and visit and sit in the easy chair if you can find it.

@@@@ News from Pigeon Falls-The little town in my garage where the trains still run, dragons fly, and tomorrow never comes– Today is the day that Petrovich promised his pronouncement on The Dream. Now he says that he ran into some translation problems and he won’t be ready until tomorrow. He says he has contacted an expert on old Russian to help him with some very difficult words in the prophecy. Tommy UK thinks he is stalling. He thinks that the translation is done and has been done for some time but for some reason Petrovich doesn’t want to share it with Pigeon Falls. It’s almost as if he was afraid. But this is the man who last year predicted the town would cease to exist what could be worse than that? What could he be afraid of ?
Eino says that one shouldn’t worry because this prophecy stuff is all nonsense to begin with. It is not logical that something a fifteenth century drunk saw in his drunken dreams would have anything to do with Pigeon Falls today. Petrovich says that the visions caused the poor man to drink and he didn’t drink to get the visions. Seeing the future can be a horrible thing.
Petrovich is sure his expert will get back to him today and he will share his findings tomorrow. He just wants to be sure.
Saturday is approaching again and people are starting to worry about The Dream. They could use some good news.
Tommy the undertaker’s son has been searching the inernet looking for examples of group dreams but he hasn’t found any. This would seem to be a very rare phenomenon . So there is no advice or help for the people of Pigeon Falls.

@@@@ News from Pigeon Falls-the little town in my garage where the trains still run, dragons fly, and it isn’t summer yet– This morning people got up to discover there was a frost last night. The newly planted flowers for which people had such great expectations all died. The old timers warned them but it was so warm that they decided to take a chance. They lost. Frost in May in Pigeon Falls is a way of life. If one must plant early then one must also watch the weather reports and cover the flowers on the nights when the frost is expected.
One suspects that the reason places start selling flowers when it first gets warm is that they know people will plant them and they will die and so they will have to come back and buy some more. In fact they make them look so good that you just have to buy them and plant them. You just can’t plant until Memorial Day. One year there was even frost in July but that was before Global Warming. There was snow in July that year as well.
There are flowers in The Dream, beautiful flowers. Somebody remarked that they as pretty as funeral flowers. Everywhere in Oiseaux Morts there are beautiful flowers. Flowers like that never grow in Pigeon Falls, well hardly ever. But since the residents of The Dream are worried about the Blue Plaque the flowers are all but ignored. Except by the children who love to pick them and give them to their mothers. A fresh bouquet is placed every day at the monument to the dragon that saved them from the invading army. Every morning the bouquet is gone and people believe the dragon comes and eats it. But nobody has ever seen that happen.
Tomorrow Petrovich says he will have an announcement concerning The Dream.

Good Deed Doing

Saying for the day-No good deed goes unpunished. (Mash)

My son Peter is an active part of his church and he cares about people. So when the Pastor called and said that there was a woman who had lost her apartment and needed help moving her stuff into storage he went to help. There was a good group of people who came and the job was done quickly. Then the lady need a ride to the Motel where the Pastor had arranged a room for her. Well everybody else was either going the wrong way or had a full car so it fell to Peter to deliver her. First he called the Pastor to be sure of the reservation. That’s when he discovered that the reservation had fallen through. Now he had a lady in his car with no place to go. He suggested to her that they call the police and get some help. That’s when she told him that the police and the FBI were out to get her and make her a slave. So now he found himself with a lady with no place to go and problems.
So he called the Pastor who told him that he (the pastor) had done all he could she was now Peter’s problem. Peter suggested to her that they go to the Salvation Army for help but she said they were working with the Police and FBI to catch her.
So Pete called his Mother in-law, who worked for a different Pastor. She put him in touch with her Pastor who told Pete that his church should help him with the problem. Thus he was still stuck with a lady whose touch with reality was shaky at best. She offered to go back to the storage place and sleep in the storage bin for the night.Pete did not think this would be a good thing . After many calls he finally paid with his credit card to put her up for the night at a motel. ‘He thought that was the end of it. But during the adventure she got his cell phone number and now has called him ten times. He is lucky she doesn’t know where he lives or his home phone.
What he learned from all of this is that sometimes it is not easy to do a good deed. But he still feels it was worth doing.

@@@@News from Pigeon Falls-the little town in my garage where the trains still run, dragons fly, and love is in the air.– Nancy and Tommy TW announced today that they were planning a September wedding. It seems that Nancy’s parents were married in September. Nancy even has her mother’s wedding dress and plans to wear it. They were planning a very simple wedding at Last Lutheran Church. They called Pastor Marvel and asked if he could come and do the wedding but he said he was far too busy. But if they could come there he would marry them at Laughing Lutheran Church. So they decided to get married in Florida and honeymoon at Disney World. The entire event won’t cost anymore than a big wedding and reception in Pigeon Falls. A number of Nancy’s relatives were disappointed and are talking about making Disney World their vacation destination this year so they can attend the wedding.
Pastor Moe feels insulted. He believes and the Bishop with him that when a Pastor leaves people should cut their ties with him and forget him or her. He says that Pastor Marvel had no business being willing to marry the couple. He is going to have his Bishop talk to Marvel’s Bishop. Bishops, you know, are very much into rules and don’t like to have them broken. It would be a better world if everybody did what they were told.
Pastor Moe told Nancy that he felt that she was making a mistake. He also told her that he had contacted the Bishop to take action against Pastor Marvel. Nancy responded by telling Pastor Moe that she wouldn’t be back at Last Lutheran until he was gone. This will be hard for her because she has been a very faithful member . Eino sent a letter to the Bishop indicating that unless something happened soon there would be no Last Lutheran. Pastor Moe has to go.

My Birthday Monday

Saying for the Day: Only a heartless person fails to comment on a friend’s birthday.

It is “Leave a Comment Monday” and I am back to my never ending task of translating old sayings into the age of the internet. It is also the day I beg for comments. I plead for comments. And today there is an even better reason to comment it is my birthday.
But here are today’s translated sayings:

@@@@ News from Pigeon Falls– the little town in my garage where the trains still runs, dragons fly, and love is in the air– Despite the poltergeist that plagued her café for a time, despite The Dream, despite the antics of Tommy UK, Nancy is happy. She sings in her coffee shop. Her eyes are alive and seem to glow. Nancy is in love. She and the writer Tommy TW are together now as often as possible. That is not nearly often enough since she is running the shop and he is writing “ Murder in a Small Town”. But he takes coffee breaks at the shop and she spends Sunday afternoons with him and sometimes they go to church together although he isn’t much of a church goer. But they are in love and it is spring. Nancy floats through the day. She isn’t even worried about dying in The Dream. Love is a grand and glorious thing.
Petrovich is not in love and is trying to get the impossible task of finding the right dribblets, translating them into English, and then making sense of them. He is sure that the answer to the problem of The Dream is in the dribblets. All he has to do is dig it out. But he is under a lot of pressure to do it quickly since the Blue Plaque is rapidly moving toward the dream town. But these things can not be hurried.
Aside from The Dream life continues in Pigeon Falls like any small town. The three seniors are taking final exams and getting ready for graduation. If it doesn’t rain it will be outside at the football field. If it does rain it will be in the consolidated gymn. There will be big parties after the graduation. Yes life goes on as normal.

Today's Link- Diary of an Old Cheeser- Jack's back but he's not the American Jack . But it is an interesting read. Leave a Dr. John in comment. Not a Dr. Who but a Dr. John.
Today was my birthday and as birthdays go it was okay. There was no cake, no ballons , except for the ones on the computer, no birthday cards , except for the one from Betty. There was an e-card from Mat and Lillian. Betty made a special roast for lunch which was very good. One set of grandkids and two of my kids wished me a happy birthday, all but one by phone. There was no singing of happy birthday. But it was an okay day. My daughter moved the computer I asked her to move as a gift since we already have far too much stuff. I spent most of the day either working at the new house , trying to get the bed room ready, or blogging. But now it is over and I return to regular days a year older. Now I need a breathing treatmemt.

On Judging

Saying for the Day:- "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Luke 6:37

Sometimes I think Christians are a weird lot. We say the Bib le is the Word of God. The Bible says we are not to judge. We read that and then go about the task of judging . We divide up people into all kinds of categories. Here are some I’ve read recently:
Godless Liberal.
Stupid Fundamentalist.
Unsaved.
True Believer
Good Person
Now , of course, there are people who fit into all those categories and some who fit into other categories as well. It’s not that there are no Godless Liberals or Stupid Fundamentalists its our putting people into those categories. When we do that we become judges . We decide who is in and who is out. We forget we are not to judge . We go against the very Word we proclaim
Our task as Christians is to share the Christ . That means letting people see the joy and the peace that God gives us . It is not our task to decide who is or isn’t worthy of that joy.
I believe that when we get to heaven we will be surprised by how many people are there.

@@@@ News from Pigeon Falls-The little town in my garage where the trains still run, dragons fly, and people dream one dream.– People were very upset in Pigeon Falls yesterday. They had dreamed The Dream together and now they were afraid. In The Dream the Blue Plaque was coming closer. Entire towns to the North of their little town had been wiped out. The question on everyone’s mind was “if we die in the dream will we die in real life?”. Some said yes and some said no. But nobody really knows. So they are afraid.
Petrovich stays locked up in his study pouring over the old Russian dribblets looking for a clue . There are those who believe that since he is central to The Dream at this point that he might have the answer in the real world. But if he does he is not ready to share it yet. He is so caught up in his research that his renter has been unable to get him to fix a leaky pipe in his bathroom . In fact at 2:30 Saturday morning he had to get up and turn off the water because it was
Running into the bedroom. He is not a happy renter.
Mrs. Trumble is saying that The Dream might be caused by the demonic White Rabbit. Get rid of the rabbit and you get rid of the dream.
Eino says that the town needs to discover what changed just before The Dream started and what was true the one Saturday since in which there was no Dream. Get those two facts and one should be able to end The Dream.
Tommy UK(undertaker’s kid) has decided to play private detective and try to find those two answers. But so far he has found nothing. He has discovered that very little changes in Pigeon Falls.

Today's Link-Holly's Corner Blog- Just letting you know that life is good. Leave a good Dr. John in the comment.
Todayw as a very good day. In the morning Pennie and I did the children's sermon. It was well received by the children. Pennie uses a puppet called Magaret and Margaret can be a bit on the funny side. The church had a special musical group providing the music for today. It consisted of two members from St. Marks but the rest were from Catholic and other churches. They did a great job. Thje only sad thing is that the Pastor announced that he was retiring as of October. After the service we came home and played canasta. Betty won again. Then Peter, Luke, and Bree came. I had a chance to spend some time telling stories to my grandson and playing mandala with my grandaughter. Then we went out to celebrate my birthday although it won't be until tomorrow. We went to old Country Buffet. Now I need a breathing treatment.

Dog Training

Saying for the Day: Some dogs do a better job of training people than others.

We are raising a dog. Sometimes I think the dog is training us. My daughter has no less than five books on dog raising and is going to a class with the dog and my wife. The books, the vet, and the class don’t agree. For example: the vet says that if the dog tries to bite you grab his nose , push her to the floor, and say no. The book says that you should cry out like it hurt you ( as if a dog bite doesn’t hurt) and it will feel bad and stop. The teacher of the class says that those things only make the dog want to bite you more . So instead you should distract it . I guess if its biting your right hand offer it your left that will be a bit of a distraction. I suggest that we slap it one across the nose and that will distract. My daughter thinks that’s a horrible idea, as does the book, the vet, and the teacher. I did that when the dog first tried to bite me. I’m the only one it never bites.
They are also training it to sit, lay, jump through a hoop , and shake hands. It will do all those things if you offer it a treat. No treat no shaking hands, no treat no sitting on command, no treat no jumping through the hoop. Sometimes I wonder who is being trained, the dog or the treat dispensers.
Then there is the peeing thing. The books, vet, teacher all disagree how to accomplish this so the dog continues to pee and poop in the kitchen. The latest idea is to take it out every fifteen minutes and keep it out until it goes. The dog was out yesterday for her second fifteen minutes. She pooped and peed. Then came back in and peed on the kitchen floor.
I think what they need to do is train the dog to read. Then give the dog one of those books so it can learn what it is supposed to be doing. If it doesn’t work I know from experience it likes to chew books. Perhaps it can digest the information.

@@@@ News From Pigeon Falls– the little town in my garage where the trains still run, dragons fly, and people dream a common dream– At two this morning Pigeon Falls entered The Dream. Everyone that was sleeping found themselves as part of the old town of Oiseaux Morts . Each person had their own role to play. They did not remember Pigeon Falls. Instead they were in the middle of a crisis. They had sent riders North and discovered that the Blue Plaque had hit a town just three towns to the North of them. It was coming. Petrovich the Wizard claimed to be able to protect the town but he wanted all the gold they had to do so. Father Moe, the town priest said to trust the church. They should all gather in the church and pray. Petrovich said those other towns had churches and they did them no good. Father Moe said perhaps they were lead by crooked wizards to not trust Mother Church.
At this point one of the children cried “ The dragon will save us! The dragon will save us”. Nobody paid any attention because what can a dragon do against the Blue Plague?
At this point Petrovich said they had one day and then if they hadn’t given him the gold he was moving on. Let them see if Mother Church could protect them.
Then The Dream ended.

HELP

Saying for the Day – Never put off until tomorrow what should have been done yesterday.
HELP!
There was a time when I was very good with computers.
I wrote programs and sold them .
It helped put my kids through school.
I knew a whole bunch of computer languages and did programming for insurance offices across Upper Michigan.

That was then.

This is now.
Now I can’t handle the setting up of a simple e-mail account.
At the end of the month I drop my slow SBC DSL line for the really fast Road Runner on cable ( this must be true I saw it on TV).
This means I have to get a new e-mail address.
By point of fact we switched to Road Runner at the start of the month and kept SBC so that I would have a month to let people know about the change in address.

Then I procrastinated!

But last night I finally got around to switching ( I have half a month left).
I carefully typed all the right things in all the right blanks in Thunderbird.
Then I had my daughter send me an e-mail note.
I hit get mail and I got, after a slight passage of time, a time-out error.
No explanation . Just a time-out error.

So I checked all of the entries again.
They all seem to be by the book.
But if everything is perfect why am I getting the error code and not the message?

But it got worse .

I tried to send an E-mail and I got a time-out error message.
Now I can’t send e-mails.
That means I can’t lose my daily million by sending in the wrong numbers.
That’s not fair.
Today I might have had the right ones.

My only hope is that one of my sons can figure out what I am doing wrong and figure it out quickly is because the month is running out.

If I suddenly stop blogging you will know that I put a brick through the monitor.
The only thing that has saved it thus far is that I procrastinate.

@@@@ News from Pigeon Falls-The little town in my garage where the trains still run, dragons fly, and people dream together– It is Friday and you can feel the fear in Pigeon Falls. Tomorrow morning they may find themselves in The Dream. They will be in the little town of Oiseaux Morts waiting for the blue Plague to come. Somebody suggested they give Petrovich, the Wizard, all their gold since it is only a dream. The problem is that when they are awake they remember The Dream but when they are in it they do not remember being part of Pigeon Falls or that this is a dream. In The Dream they are being asked to give up their life savings for possible protection from the Blue Plague. But suppose Petrovich is a con man who is keeping just ahead of the Plague to grab what he can. Nobody will ever tell because they will all be dead. In The Dream it is not so easy.
The real question is “If they die in The Dream will they die in Pigeon Falls?” and nobody has an answer to that. But they are clearly afraid they might. Of course there is also the possibility that the next time they enter The Dream it will be at a different time and the Plaque won’t be a problem. There is nothing that says The Dream must be continuous.
One of the kids said the dragon saved us last time and the dragon will save us again. It is of course possible that the dragon being a magical creature might have some magic that will hold against the Blue Plague but its doubtful. Besides the dragon hasn’t been seen in the dream since he saved the town.
Eino says that the only logical thing to do is to find out what is causing the dream and stop it. What , for example, was true on the one Saturday they didn’t have The Dream? What changed in town just before The Dream started ? If those questions could be answered then one is on the way to a cure.

I printed out all the February blog entries for my sister. I tried to make the new e-mail work but couldn't. Betty and I had to go to Wal Mart to get an ink cartridge to finish printing out the entries. Pennie came home early and fooled with the E- mail until she finally got it working. I began sending out a change of address . I visted most of the links. Then we played canasta and I won. Now I need a breathing treatment.
