Meme Over and Over

Saying for the day: If a friend is in trouble, don't annoy him by asking if there is anything you can do. Think up something appropriate and do it. ~Edgar Watson Howe

I’ve been tagged again. My regular readers know how much I love being tagged. I assure you I have stopped throwing things and screaming. I , of course, will not tag anyone but I will do the meme. The Person who tagged me is not a bad person. In fact he is a Lutheran preacher. The only problem is I did this meme two weeks ago. But just for fun I thought I would do it again. The answers of two weeks ago are in light black and today's in dark.

So here I go:

Ten years ago:
I should have gone to the doctor then I wouldn’t be in the condition I am in now.
I was building the largest garden railroad in Upper Michigan.

Five things on today’s “to do” list:

Eat breakfast
Blog
Eat Lunch
Blog
Eat Super ( How boring can it get?)

Check my eBay stuff
Play with the dog
Clean in the basement
Run my Lionel train
Take a breathing treatment ( Still boring)

Things I’d do if I was a billionaire:

Pay off all my debt
Help my family and friends out
Contribute money to St. Mark’s, United Lutheran, St. Vincent De Paul and a few other charities
Set up a fund at Luther Seminary to help Pastors get a Doctor of Ministry Degree
Get the best portable Oxygen compressor
Buy a winter home in Florida

Take a trip to Finland
Buy back my Mother and Father's House ( Give to sister)
Hire somebody to research my family tree
Hire a firm to finish my O scale layout
Buy one each of all of Janet Nelson's Cups
Set up a foundation to give away money

Three bad habits:

Never comb my hair
I tend to have a hard time saying no
disorganized

Procrastinate
Drink too much pop
Sulk ( not as much as I used too)

Five places I’ve lived:

Chicago, Illinois
Ishpeming, Michigan
Trout Creek, Michigan
Crystal Falls, Michigan
Great Lakes Ore Boat

Elgin , Illinois
Ewen, Michigan
Negaunee, Michigan
Neenah, Wisconsin
Managua, Nicaragua
Five jobs I’ve had:

Santa Claus Montgomery Ward
Deckhand
College Teacher (Math)
Counselor Bay Cliff Health Camp

Computer Programer ( Sold insurance programs)
Debate Coach
Dish Washer ( Seminary)
School Board President ( Hey we got paid a little)
Potato Picker

As you know I don’t tag so if you want to do the meme feel free.
#### News from Pigeon Falls-The little town in my basement where the trains still run, dragons fly, and life is back to normal .Pastor Joan asked in her sermon yesterday “ How many people laughed when Willie said there was a whale in the Lake of the Loons? Here is an excerpt of that sermon:
Most of you laughed. I laughed. There is no whale in the Lake of the Loons. Poor old Willie is wrong again. But wonder, if tomorrow when your swimming or fishing in the lake a whale suddenly shows up? How would you feel. Would your view of Willie change? Of course it would.
In today’s lesson people thought Jesus was crazy. They laughed at him because he said a little girl who died was only sleeping. But they stopped laughing when the little girl got up. Yes they did. None of those people ever laughed at Jesus again.
But today there are people who laugh at these stories. They say the church made them up. They say they are myth. They say you have to be crazy to believe them.
But some of us have met the One who raised the girl. We know they are true.
If you went out to the Lake of the Loons and saw a whale then no one could tell you it wasn’t there. You would do the laughing.
We have seen Jesus. He has come to us in Word and Sacrament and we believe. The world can laugh if it wants but we know that only the fool says in his heart there is no God.
Of course the sermon was longer than that but that’s the gist of it.
Yesterday afternoon there were more people than usual having picnics out at the Lake of the Loons park. One would think they were hoping to see a whale. None showed up.
But the town dragons flew over the main street and the little ones are growing.

Today's Link-Monkey Giggles- Some great cookies to start the week
The background music is used with permission from Jean Laaninen, who home recorded it in 2008.” The Public Domain Score provided by Dover.
Not a bad day. I spent the morning putting last Sunday's sermon on the St. Mark's website. I took a nap. I got permission from the wife of an old friend to use a recording of her piano playing as background music. Then the real headache started. When it came to background music nothing I tried worked. I thought I could use the program I use for sermons on the website but it didn't work on the blog. So I Blingoed, Googled, and Asked until I found a program that would work. It took a long time. My other sister called. She is doing fine. Now I need a breathing treatment.

I am your first commenter this morning..wow!! Fun to be first i would say!! Yes, we know the one who did all of the miracles. I think it is so terrible that people think the stories in the bible are myths. I am so glad that I accepted Jesus as my savior some 37 years ago now. Wow it has been a bit!!
Thanks for stopping by. Sandy

The people of Pigeon Falls laughed at there being a whale in lake of the Loons cause it wasnt outrageous enough! Willy needs to throw in some good ol' aliens. Isnt it about time some Martians showed up in Pigeon Falls?

Please don't bring Martians to Pigeon Falls... disappearing people was quite enough... I'd hate to think that little green men were responsible for that! I'm sure it is something SCIENTIFICALLY explainable! *rolls eyes*

Pastor Joan is AWESOME! But I wonder where that leaves folks like me who still believe there IS a whale...

I'm not doing your meme AGAIN this week... but I have one of the longest ones EVER on my blog today!
YOU have had a lot of jobs! And lived a lot of places! And I'm sO glad you don't SULK as much as you used to! I'm pretty sure God is glad too!

I could more easily believe there is a whale living in a fresh water lake than I could believe there is no God.

I am amazed that you could come up with five more jobs and five more places where you have lived.

I only have three but each was in a different country.

Calendar folder? That's even worse than my first job. I was a dish dryer. Not a dish washer, a dish dryer.

If I won a few dollars....I'd take a trip to Finland too & take my Dad ... go meet all his (my) family that he (we)has never met.

I started planning something about 15 years ago & realized not long after that I'd never be able to save enough.

And I'd like to also get my Finnish family tree done

It'd be great to see some photos of your Lionel Layout. I played with N-gauge as a kid and HO a little before I got married and had kids.
thanks for sharing
sorry about tagging you a second time; but you retired preachers have so much time to spend on other things you know.
