Quilts

Saying for the Day:To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity."-- Donald A. Adams

It’s Ash Wednesday. Over at St. Mark’s some of the ladies will be doing what they do every Wednesday. They will be quilting.

I can’t think of a better way to start Lent than a Quilting Bee. People giving up some of their time so that somebody else can be warm and cared for.

The quilts they are making will go all over the world through Lutheran World Action. They will be used after disasters and in areas of extreme poverty. For some people they will become their only possession. They will be bed, blanket, and sometimes tent.

All of that possible because people who love Jesus decided to give up part of their time for the good of others who they will never meet.

It’s called sacrifice.

It’s a great way to start Lent.

####News from Pigeon Falls-The little town in my basement where the trains still run, dragons fly, and life is just a little strange. General Fredrick R. Bosley has an important meeting this afternoon. He is going to meet the man he considered to be a traitor and a terrorist , Tomas Petrovich. He has been ordered by Homeland Security to do so. He fully intends to get the truth of he has to beat it out of him. You have to get tough with these fanatics and show them who is in charge.
So at 3 o’clock the General laid out his full dress uniform and took it with him to Jack’s Sauna. He ordered everybody that was there to get lost and locked the door. Then he undressed and entered the steam room. He sat on the upper bench, the hottest place in the Sauna and threw water on the rocks. He would be clean as could be when he faced Petrovich. He would be clean physically, morally , and mentally. He would feel clean and that would give him a clear edge against that scum.
So he relaxed and went over in his mind all that he was going to say. It was about 5 o’clock when he emerged from the steam room. That’s when he discovered his clothes were gone. His new Dress Uniform had disappeared along with the uniform he came in with. But the door was still locked.
Hanging on the hanger in front of him was a dress in camouflage material . It was his size and there was nothing else to put on. So he did, swearing all the while. He may have had a clean body but he didn’t have a clean mouth. The question is can he get back to his tent before anybody sees him. He has another change of clothes there.
Will the General make it back to his tent? Will he keep Petrovich waiting? Who did this foul deed ? Is this what one means by a full dress uniform? And of course is Tommy UK really the undertaker’s son?

Today's Link-My Home Town- A little peek into somebody else's life and town.
Rough breathing day. I worked on the computer in the morning and set up my award room. I cleaned up the blog a bit. I visited all my links. Then I worked in the basement. Betty finished the last of what needed to be done on the first module's winter park. Everything works fine now. I began laying things out for the next group to be sold on eBay. Npw I need a breathing treatment.'

General Bosley is beginning to look a little like George C. Scott to me.

LOL - He considers Petrovich to be a traitor and a terrorist. Why isnt Petrovich under guard? The general is going to be the truth out of Petrovich? Well, maybe finally Petrovich will think twice about those silly driblets.

I like your idea of sacrificing to start Lent. What a better place the world would be if we all did more of that.
