A Mini-marathon

Saying for the day: A mini anything is not as good as a Great one.

Well here we go with blog marathon number five. It will be slightly different than the other marathons. Here are the rules.
1. 30 blogs need to be completed to finish the marathon
2. you must do blogs in sets of five by category
3. You receive fifteen points for each category completed
4. There are a total of twelve categories to choose from
5. Keep track of the categories completed and when you are through leave a comment on my blog telling me which categories you did by number. This gives me a check on my totals.
6. Those doing 6 categories or more will receive a marathon certificate and a blogger snow globe.
7. Be nice and creative in your comments and remember to leave the words Dr. John in the comment to get the JCPOINTS.
8. Mini-Marathon will end at 9:00 AM Thursday
Have fun and you will find the category lists by clicking HERE

@@@@
News from Pigeon Falls– The little town in my garage where the trains still run and kids are the government– The election is over and the votes have been counted in Pigeon Falls. The votes for Mayor are as follows, Nancy 1, Eino 1, White Rabbit 2, and Tommy 5. The new Mayor of Pigeon Falls is Tommy the undertaker’s kid. The council will be made up of the eighth grade class all six of them. Each one got five votes. Apparently the last years graduating class decided to shame the town by writing in the eighth grade class. There is no age limit on the office holders only on voting for the office. So now Tommy, who couldn’t vote for Mayor, is the Mayor. He will be on Thursday when he and the new council members have been voted in. The adults in Pigeon Falls are in a state of shock. One eighth grade mother said she isn’t going to let her son serve on the council. The town attorney said that if she prevented a properly elected official from performing his duties she could be arrested. Tommy announced that his first official act would be to declare the White Rabbit the town mascot and make it illegal to shoot at him. Mrs. Trumble has not been available to comment on that development.
Nancy says all those people who came in for coffee agreed that something had to be done but nobody had the slightest idea of what. The adults don’t want the kids making the rules for the town. Nancy says that if nothing else is true its been good for coffee sales.
Lest we forget the dragon got one vote for council. So things could have been worse. We could have had a council consisting of the dragon and the Mayor would have been the White Rabbit.
*******

There will be no link today because of the mini-marathon. Click HERE for that list. Remember to put the words DR. John in the comments to get your own personal worthless JCPOINTS. Check HERE for your totals.
Mia Culpa, Mia Culpa, Mia Culpa. I am guilty. I made an off the top of my head comment in Monday's post which could be read as questioning the ethics of Cindra Jo's relatives. It was not intended to do that but to question if the identifies of the writers in the contest could really be kept secret. I have always had a tendency to put foot in mouth and do so even on this blog. To all of Cindra Jo's relatives my sincerest apology. I am sure that you are all ethical people. Out of all this I have learned how easy it is to destroy the peace. In the future I will try harder to say what I really mean (think before I write). Again I am sorry.
For those who wonder what T.I.P.C stands for it is "Thousand Individual Point Club" which is made up of bloggers with over 1000 JCPOINTS.
Betty was going to paint the garage door but it rained. She did bring in the hose and some unused rairoad track. I worked on filling out a question sheet sent to us by Mr. Smythe. I hope the answers will be okay. Betty sold some stock that she and her sister had. The last of the stock. It brought about $450. Well I need a breathing treatment.

Tommy as mayor and the eigth grade as council? Well, all I can say is some trends transcend reality.

An eigth grade Mayor and Council. Perfect! I know I certainly knew everything when I was in the 8th grade!

Dr John,
are you saying there is no bribing Cindra Jo in the Monday word competition. That's half the fun see who can come up with the best story, or promises of the most outrageous laugh or bribe.

I mean, how else am I gonna ever win otherwise.
So go and vote for entry X
No, not the X-rated one, the anonymous one from the X-files

Some people are more competitive than others. I suspect, like me, you are in the others category. I confess that in Cindra Jo's last word game I voted twice for myself, however I still came last. I feel this was an appropriate punishment for attempting to rig the result in my favour.

All of a sudden I start getting comments on my blog this morning. (Four new comments in the span of a few minutes!) Each new comment mentions Dr. John. I think, who the hell is this dr. john? I check commentor no. 1's blog, no mention of a dr. john in top few posts. Check commentor no. 2's blog, again no comment in top few posts. Check out commentor no 4's blog, having accidently skipped checking no 3's blog, and a mention with a link that brought me here!

Whatever the intention might be, I hope it brightens the days of others as it already has mine!

You sillies! Dr. John, good grief. This is all in fun and there is no need to apologize. That was a comment made in fun!

Bazza-the poll is set up so you can only vote once...or it should be. You big goober!

I don't get to vote because I am the organizer...I guess I could do a family contest on the side...but isn't being part of a family a contest in itself???

Okay, for the record, so we (at least Dr. John and I) can move along...I took no offense at all and I appreciate your apology, however (un)necessary. Thanks.

My family has been known to expand some details here and there or leave em' out all together!

Good day to all. I'll be back later for the marathon.

Foot in Mouth - I know it well. Jon and I just had our 5th anniversary and we follow the Greeting Card Traditional Gift Suggestions.

When asked last night what I got for an anniversary present I replied, "Wood".

Everyone laughed and ran away with the impossibilities! When I should have just said "A cord of firewood" so we could cozy up and snuggle next to the fireplace on these up and coming cold winter nights.

But nooooooo! My friends are terribly uncooth.

I finished sections 1-8.
Fourth blog in section five won't let me leave a comment. I tried ten times, and ten times I got the message "An error occurred:

You must define a Comment Pending template."

So how can I leave a comment when I don't how or why I should define a comment pending template?

WOW!!! That is some town to have a kid for mayor and a bunch of 8th graders for council.

I can just see it, curfews reversed and and making it illegal to punish your children. lol That is too funny!

I'm gonna try and do the marathon. School has been pretty busy but I need some JC points. My goal is to now get into the 1000 club. I have to be apart of that!

i had already written about my first part but now i'm back for the rest.

I absolutely LOVE the fact that Tommy is new the major and that the council is made up of kids.

kids ideas and innocense are exactly what we all need more of. their enthusiasm and joy of life are catching..things can only be fun and adventurous and that is just awesome.

pls tell Tommy how grateful i'm for his first order of business...WHOO-HOOO the rabbit and dragon are safe..I'm sure that Mrs. Trouble will love this one for sure, lol..

If you knew how often i write something that in my head sounds funny or smart and when i go back, it sounds nothing but. I have put more feet in my mouth than i owned and so i know how bad you must feel. But you have explained and apologized and really that is all we can do. It was a mistake, one we all make i assure you.

Thank you for the happiness of today. Enjoy all the people out there making others happy. Take care and love to you both.

Dr. John, Apology accepted. I knew you didn't mean your comment the way it sounded, however I won't be participating in Cindra's contest. What you said others think. It makes me sad.

I won't be joining your marathon. It came on a very busy day for me. I am struggling to make my usual rounds. I hope everyone has fun.

This time I was able to take part in the marathon. I was off today with a break to the Dentist (only a filling).

I've been to the Blogs on 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. I've even left a comment on my own blog just to be safe.

Thanks for letting me particitpae and including my blog in the marathon.

Well, Dr. John, just finished my minimum 6 - can add 11 to the previous 1, 2, 5, 7, 8. I try to read a bit into the blog and write a reasonable comment - so did not have time for more. I am sorry for all the gems I did not get to visit.

Please, I don't need a snow globe! My reward is in the wonderful blogs I have discovered, thanks to you. Plenty enough reward!

Also, I was at a church service yesterday and at one part, right before the Creed, the priest says "The Lord is my rock, my fortress. . . " For some reason, I immediately thought of you. I don't know why it didn't hit me weeks ago! I've only been a visitor here for a few months - but I was wondering about the origin of "fortress" in your blog title - have you posted an explanation of that before? Thanks.
