....Well they hung the Pigeon Falls Pigeon days banner over the main street today. Toivo's oldest son , Robert, volunteered to do the job. He fell twice but didn't break anything. Toivo held the ladder and did a pretty good job. When he finished somebody said they were afraid the light pole would bend over from the weight of the banner so they cabled the pole to the roof of the Post Office. In ten years of hanging that banner the pole has never bent but better safe than sorry. Robert is a student at the University in Marquette but he is not studying banner hanging. He intends to be a teacher. The banner looks really good those Lutheran ladies did a fine job of repairing it.
Tomorrow Mayor South will announce who the mystery person is who is coming to lead the Pigeon Day Parade and whose initials are RM. With that out of the way people can go back to speculating about the Bubster person. The good citizens have to have something to talk about.
The Pigeon Days Committee is now working on the other details of Pigeon Days. There will be the usual yellow brick road race. Run on the yellow brick road , of course. The only time they won't be running on bricks is when they do the turn around in the Jupola field. They are adding a watermelon eating contest which could be interesting, They are picking people to judge the parade. They also have to set up some mechanism to pick the Pigeon Queen. They have scheduled the Pigeon Dance for the basement of Last Lutheran Church after they promised Pastor Marvel there would be no alcoholic beverages at the dance. I remember when Lutherans wouldn't allow dancing in the Church, period. Well I'll keep you informed as to what 's happening in Pigeon Falls.
........ Had a good night last night and didn't get up till 6:30 this morning. The plumbers came and promised that everything would be done by tomorrow except the painting. In the morning we put rocks on the mountain. With Bree helping we quickly used up all the rocks Dawn and Paul left. After we finished with that Betty filled the cracks with foam. I worked on getting the lights ready to install on the main street. Then Bree and Betty installed them and hung the Pigeon Days banner. In the afternoon Bree took all the pop cans back and made $11.00 . then she and Betty went to the lake. I tried to run a train but the heat was unbearable so I gave up and worked on the computer. At supper time I got called by the university of Michigan for a health survey that took about 29 minutes. The call came right in the middle of my watermelon. We did a follow up on the one place in green Bay that looked promising and found out it was fifteen miles out of Green Bay in the snow belt. Well I need a breathing treatment.
