Post Turtles

Saying for the Day
All of us who are concerned for peace and triumph of reason and justice must be keenly aware how small an influence reason and honest good will exert upon events in the political field. ~Albert Einstein

Post Turtles
I have come to the conclusion that our two main Presidential candidates are Post Turtles.
I have come to this conclusion based on their negative adds ( Only Post Turtles would run those adds and think they would help.) and their voting to throw seven hundred billion dollars at a problem that is not clear nor is how the money will be used. My local Democratic Congressman who is no Post Turtle voted against it and with good reasons. There are safeguards , of course,. The people who caused the problem Congress and the President ( Another Post Turtle) have promised to supervise how the money is thrown. Doesn’t that fill you with confidence?
I expected one of the candidates since both are running against the President and Congress to stand tall and say “ This makes no sense”. They would have my vote immediately. But these two Post Turtles voted for it. They even helped to get it passed.
So we can look forward to another four years of being lead by a Post Turtle.
Wait! Perhaps, you don’t know what a Post Turtle is.
"When you're driving down a country road you come across fence posts with a turtles balanced on top, those are 'post turtles'".

"You know they didn't get up there by themselves, they don't belong up there, and they don't know what to do while they're up there, and you just wonder what kind of dummies put them up there to begin with".

News from Pigeon Falls
The little town in my basement where the trains still run, dragons fly, and life is back to normal.
It’s official. The museum is now open every day at 6:00 until further notice. They have hung heavy curtains over the windows in the room with the piano so you can’t see in from the outside any longer. They are selling six tickets at ten dollars apiece so that people can sit in the room with the piano. Six chairs along the outer wall is all there is room for. This morning all six tickets sold and the concert went on as scheduled. None of the people lived in Pigeon Falls and all six left on the morning milk train right after the concert. The Board has decided that if there are more than six people who want tickets they will be sold on a first come first served basis. Those that can’t get tickets can pay the five dollar museum fee and stand in the hall and listen.
Poor Mrs. Trumble now has to put up with Mary Maxim fans coming to town to see her. They stop by the Town Hall and ask for her autograph and take her picture. They get upset when she signs it Mrs. Trumble instead of Mary Maxim. The fans are getting in the way of her job. She knows the nonsense will only last for a month or so and then people will begin to forget. But a month is a long time.
Petrovich is working on another driblet. He says it is about one third translated and it is not good.
Herman Hatlverson , Pigeon Falls’ local “seer” is still trying to get the Fly Inn to serve him Driblets so he can have another vision. He feels that both he and the town are being cheated. Why should Petrovich have a monopoly on visions. He’s for a free vision market. May the best visions win. But if they won’t serve him a driblet he gets no visions.

Wrap UP
A good day. The oxygen was back almost to low normal. I did some reading. Put Sunday's bulletin on the St. mark's website. Betty and I worked on the layout. Almost finished it but ran out of plaster cloth. We will get some tomorrow and finish Monday. I visited some of my links. Now I still need a breathing treatment.

1. That is a GREAT family photo! Boy! No denying those are YOUR kids! I do see a bit of Betty in the tallest son - which one is he? (my apologies - Penny is the only one I have straight so far!) Anyway... that is just a GREAT photo! We haven't had our family photo taken since the twins were infants... I guess maybe we should consider doing that...

2. Fortunately I've never SEEN a Post Turtle - cuz I'm the one who would stop and rescue the poor thing... but I LOVE your analogy!

3. I'm wondering if all the people coming into town for the conerts are spirits from long ago... are they dressed in modern day clothing? Or do they seem to be in costume for the occasion? Just wondering... I knEW this was going to happen with the Mayor! I don't think people are going to forget in a month... I think this is only the beginning! Because of the PRESS and all... Petrovich is scaring me... Somebody get Herman a Driblet! Maybe we could have a round of Battling Driblets!!! Or Vying Visions... or something...

Love the post. It is such an accurate description of the state of the union. Sad really.

That's a great family portrait. I'm glad you had a good day.

Post turtles is a new one for me. That definitely creates an image for sure.

What a great analogy...I've been wondering when one of these guys finally gets elected, after wasting all that money on ads, if he will say, "Now what.?" That kind of happened a few years ago in our state when the independent party guy got elected unexpectedly. There was some good in it, as he put advisers in from both parties.

Hehe, Post Turtles. I once heard it said that it's not such a smart idea to be middle of the road. For you're in danger of getting hit by cars coming from both directions.

Theses candidates, nothing will change, no matter who is elected. It's a bummer.
