Sunday-Don't lie.

Saying for the day-Lies are like boomerangs they come flying back at the one who threw them.

In the book of Colossians the third chapter the ninth verse. Paul tells us “Do not lie to one another,” We who belong to Christ are to tell the truth. God wants us to be honest.
Those who don’t believe in God can get this same advice from the Soap Operas. As one character in a popular soap said “ If you tell a lie it will come back and bite you on the rear”. Over and over again the shows demonstrate that if you lie for a good or bad reason it will in the end turn out badly for you.
So then why do people lie when it is against God’s will and can be seen to fail.
There are two main reasons for telling lies.
1. The teller did something he doesn’t want anybody to know. This can be big like stealing something or small like not doing one’s homework.
2. The teller wants to protect somebody from what he or she considers a hurtful truth. For Example Sally knows that Karen’s husband is cheating on her but lies to keep from being the one that tells Karen.
3. The teller uses the lie to cheat somebody out of something.
Whatever the reason once you have lied you have to keep lying. In order to protect yourself you have to tell ever bigger lies until they collapse under their own weight. Or we live in fear that we will be found out.
So God tells us don’t lie.

@@@@ News from Pigeon Falls– the little town in my basement where the trains still run, dragons fly, and Pastor Castle preaches– Pastor Joan Castle started her ministry today at Last Lutheran Church. She preached about her partnership in the gospel with all the members of the congregation. It was their task, together, to share the good news of Jesus in Pigeon Falls. In general people felt that it was a better sermon than the best of Pastor Moe’s sermons. There was a big welcoming lunch after the service catered by the Methodist ladies. They served Cornish pasties. Pastor Castle introduced her husband and he told the group that he was happy to be there and when on to tell some church jokes that had everybody laughing. It was one great , happy, morning.
Polly Stir was introduced as the new Pigeon Queen and Pastor Castle said that Last Lutheran was proud to have her as part of the family. A few people were upset by that given the bit of a scandal that surrounded Polly with the internet picture and all.
Petrovich is still trying to get the part of the driblet that comes after the unless. He has e-mailed his friends at the Monastery in Russia. They will look for a better copy, one that has the missing words. Petrovich has gone back over what he has and has made out these letters con wo prie and ab. He is trying to make some sense out of them while he waits for the word from Russia.

Today's Link-Random Thoughts from a Housewife- Your chance to find out where your theology fits in this crazy world.- Leave a Dr. John in the Comment
My theology according to the test is Neo Orthodox. Betty, Pennie, and I went to Church this morning. We had a guest preacher as our Pastor was on vacation. After the service I got to talking with another retired Pastor who belongs to St. Marks. We shared stories from our ministry. It was very interesting. In the afternoon Pennie and Betty took the dog out to a dogt park for a walk. Now I need a breathing treatment.

Petrovich should play Wheel of Fortune every day. Then he would figure out the missing words.

When I read this I remembered a friend always saying "Be Sure Your Sins to Find you out" Exact quote to be found in Numbers 32:23. It's been so long since I thought of my friend and the way he would preach about someone will always see.

Thankyou for sharing

A Blessed Sudnay is wished for you and Betty.

So, now, what do we do about the Liars Club and all those Dragon Stories?

Good point, Dr. John.

I prefer telling the truth always, that way I don't have to try to remember too much.

Blessings.
