Win or Lose it's Friday
It's time for the internet contest that requires no postage and handling fee.
The contest that requires no credit card.
The contest that is very slow at sending out prizes.
The contest that doesn't even require your correct name.
Every Friday we give away priceless prizes to some lucky person who commented on this blog or one of the daily links in the week gone by.
THE RULES:
To take part in the contest you must
1: Have commented on at least one entry on this blog in the last week.
For every day that you left a comment we write your name on a slip of paper that is placed in our rose colored drawing bowl. So if you commented every day you could have 7 slips in the bowl.
( The more slips the higher your chance to win)
If you commented on the Link of the Day and put Dr. John in the comment you get one more slip. If you commented on the Link every day that's a total of seven slips.
You could therefore have 14 chances at winning the Priceless Prize.
Next Betty or her designated replacement draws one of those slips and that person wins the Priceless Prize. Which today is Little Bear.
Poor little bear is tired of sitting in the box under my computer. It looks forward to being cared for by some kind hearted individual.
If you left a comment in the week that ended today you have a chance at giving her a new home.
Now, if your allergic to bears you can take a chance on a door.
What's behind the door ?
It could be;
2 wonderful rubber bands
or
2 never used pencils (not even chewed on)
0r
2 Christmas pop-ups.or
2 ceramic houses for a Christmas village
or
a DVD
or
One of many other prizes. You pick the door and you take your chance.
Now all we need is Betty to do the drawing. Good luck everybody.
@@@@ News from Pigeon Falls-The little town in my garage where the trains still run, dragons fly, and Pigeon Days has begun– On Wednesday the big pigeon calling contest was held. There were forty seven contestants. Each believing that they could win the thousand dollar prize. Each person got ten minutes. They were not allowed to use birdseed or anything except the call. The contest took all day as two people called at a time. One on each end of the street. For a moment it looked like this year, for the first time in fifteen , we might have a winner. Ten pigeons came and flew around Thadeus Bender , the mine inspector. One almost landed on his shoulder but then flew away. Thadeus was deemed best caller of the day and got the proverbial sweater that said in great big letters “ALMOST” over a picture of a pigeon.
Yesterday was the big pasty eating contest. It had fifty seven contestants. Very quickly those big Methodist pasties filled stomachs and people dropped out. Some only made it through three pasties. It’s not like the old days when the miners could easily eat six or seven at a time. Soon there were only two people left ,Big Rudy ( who is a past winner) and Robert Lanyon who was visiting from England. Now Big Rudy is a big tough looking guy who looks like he could eat a dozen or so while Robert is so skinny one has to wonder where the pasties were going. At the tenth pasty Big Rudy began to look a little green but Robert hadn’t changed at all. Half way through the twelfth pasty Big Rudy surrendered and headed for the bathroom. Robert finished his twelfth and asked if he could have a thirteenth even though he had won. Those Methodist ladies make great pasties. Robert got the pasty eating trophy, the fifty dollars, the free pasties, and the Pasty Champ shirt to take back to England. He says that Cornish pasties are never this good.

Today Link- Amusing Vegetables.co.uk- More than you could possibly want to know about an Osage orange. Leave a Dr. John in the comment for a chance at next week's drawing.
Betty is back.
She has drawn.
The winner is.
Ginger's Mom
Congratulation to Ginger's Mom.
Our poor bear is going to hav e to go on being lonely since Ginger's Mom picked door number 1 instead. Behind number one was:
2
reindeer finger puppets
2
snowman finger puppets
2
Santa Claus finger puppets
2
snowmen pop ups
2
small yo yos
2
snap on little pins
and
2 pencils
All those two's behind door number one.
It was a good day. The contest was fun as it always is. I am amazed that people can have fourteen chances and somebody with only one chance ends up winning. I really though the little bear would go but I was wrong. I watched my soaps. I met with a lady who took half of the empty boxes from my garage. Now I hope somebody will take the other half. I sent e-mails to people interested in the chair we are trying to give away. It has been a busy day. Betty went to the eye Doctor's and is doing fine. It looks like when she is done she won't need glasses. Now I need a breathing treatment.

Yippeee! I am a winner. Thanks, Dr. John. I'll pick door #1 please!
Congrats to Ginger's Mom. What a cute little bear. =O)
Didnt you know? All skinny people have hollow legs. That is how Robert won the pasty contest.
I've been dying to try a pasty since reading of them in "The Cat Who..." series, but 13 at one go? I think I'd just like one.
Funny, I was calling pigeons on Wednesday. I do it for fun. I didn't know there's a contest.
A pie eating contest? That's big fun right there! I could go for some pie...but not a lot of pie.
