Our Picture Page

Today my youngest sister is getting married. So in her honor I have reached back into the archives for some pictures of her down through the years.

@@@@News from Pigeon Falls– Where the trains still run, dragons fly, and art is important.-Today is the third day of “Art on the Lake of the Loon’s Shore “. Last year it was “Art on the Yellow Brick Road” but the Yellow Brick Road is being repaired and so they moved it to the park. It didn’t cut down the number of artists though. It is still a very popular event.
That weird guy that welds junk together is back. This year he has a sculpture ( that’s what he calls it) that looks like the aftermath of a car crash. Why anybody would buy a piece of junk like that is hard to figure out. It is really hard to figure out in light of the prices he charges, thousands of dollars. Why anybody is willing to pay a thousand dollars for something that somebody else would pay to have dragged to the dump is a mystery.
Not that that is the only weird art here. There is a huge canvas where the artist has glued birdseed to the canvas and then painted a picture over it. It looks like the Mona Lisa with lumps. The artist has to keep chasing the pigeons away. It will never sell.
Of course there are real artists here as well. Janet who has a website called “ A Planet Named Janet ” ( not to be confused with the English, church going, Janet who ran a different kind of art on her website until the authorities closed her down) is here. She has marvelous fish pictures that fit right in with the Lake of the Loon’s location. She even has cups with the pictures on them. These are selling like crazy. She also has a son who is in a band ( Dorothy Heralds) that has played at a couple of Pigeon Falls events.
Today and tomorrow are the big days for the sale.

Today's Link-Stimeyland- A lesson in the sleeping habits of children as they age. Leave a Dr. John in the comment.
It was a good day. Got the last of the empty boxes out of the garage. The person who got them seemed really happy. Now if somebody will take the church we can get the van in. Betty and I [played computer games for much of the afternoon. Now I need a breathing treatment.

Ah yes, only in Pigeon Falls can an artists dream of success come true.

Thanks :-)

Seems the Janet Nelson in the UK is going to have another 15 minutes of fame now that you have found here.
