Showers

Saying for the Day- Its not just being clean its how you get there that's important.

Did I ever tell you I don’t like showers. Well If I did I lied. “I don’t like” is fat too soft an emotion for what I feel for showers. I hate showers. I loath showers. I despise showers. I hate being burned and frozen while I try to adjust the heat of the water which is almost impossible to adjust. I hate being hit by the water. I hate being afraif I’m going to slip and fall. I hate the entire experience. I hate coming out of the hot shower into a cold room. I hate the entire experience.
In the house at Crystal Falls I had a walk in tub. I opened the door, entered, sat down on the special seat, closed the door and filled the tub. When It was full I turned on the jets and added a little bubble bath. It was paradise.
There is a bathtub here, of course. But it is the down on the floor kind. I would have to get down into it and I can’t.
If I did it would take 911 and a derrick to get me out.
So I have to take showers. I put them off as long as I can but I have little choice. After a few days Betty begins to hint that I should take a shower. If that doesn’t work she comes right out and says “ Aren’t you going to take a shower? So I have no choice.
Someday, when I win the lottery I’m going to get another walk in tub.

@@@!@News from Pigeon Falls– the little town in my garage where the trains still run, dragons fly, and basketball is King-They won! That’s right they won. The New Potatoes beat Republic last night. They not only won but they won by ten points. It was a team effort, no stars. Nine of the eleven players saw significant court time. Every one of them scored. It was the first time that they have beaten Republic since the consolidated school was formed. It mad the front page of the Iron Mountain paper and the lead story in WLUC’s sports last night. From the reaction of the town you would think they had won a tournament. It’s all people can talk about. There is some talk that the coach will be named UP coach of the year. At this point nobody is making fun of the name. Isn’t that odd?
Pastor Marvel heard about it in Florida and sent his congratulations to the team. He is having a great time in Florida but is sorry that he missed the game. Mrs. Marvel said to tell Nancy she got that teapot.
Mr. Robinson passed out at the game> At first they thought he had a heart attack. Old Doc Henery had him carried to the back room and gave him some oxygen. It seems he just passed out from the excitement but Doc wants him to go to a specialist in Marquette and get his heart checked out. Winning can be hard on the heart.
There is more than enough snow and so one is seeing a weekend influx of snowmobilers . It’s a wonder they way they are riding through the woods that they haven’t run into the dragon or the White Rabbit. One guy did run into a turkey the other day. Turkeys aren’t very bright. He came back to town covered with turkey blood and feathers. Virginia Welton who is head of the “ Shining Light Snowmobile Club” said there would be no trouble if they stayed on the marked and groomed trails. She was, of course , talking about the snowmobilers not the turkeys. Perhaps its not just the turkeys that aren’t too bright.

Had another rough night last night. Lots of coughing and very little sleep. Got up this morning and posted then went back to bed. During the day I napped amd nloged a little but mostly napped. Pennie who was called out last night to put a potential suicide in the hospital napped most of the afternoon. Betty got some things done here and there. Pennie is out now on another call to the hospital. I am glad I don't have her jon. It is so cold out. We won't leave the Fortress unless we have to. Now I need a breathing treatment.

We only had a tub growing up. I remember the first time I used a shower in a hotel. I thought the curtain went outside the tub. Got the floor all wet.

I love showers! My grandfather built the shower stall in their house. It was 4'x4' and had a six inch shower head which came straight down from the cealing. No cold spots in that shower! I miss it like you miss your walk-in tub.

Hi Dr John, those walk in baths are great, for patients having difficulty getting in and out, but still not safe for some conditions where the patient cannot tell if he's been scolded by hot tap water.

PS - Wouldn't take (cost) much to get a gas water heater and a decent tap that can regulate the water in your shower to precisely the temperature you like ...

hey, slipping is a risk whether getting in and out of the shower or the bath, but hey a non-slip mat outside the shower should keep you steady on your feet.

PPS - Ignore those mats for in the shower they are just as slippery (or more) than no mat

As far as I can tell the showers in the US have slightly less pressure than a fire hose! In Europe we have much more sedate showers, which are obviously much easier than the one you describe... come and see us anytime you need sprucing up!

I thought the Fortress was smelling funny lately. =O)

Why not get one of those removeable showerheads that you can either leave up and shower like usual, or sit and wet/rinse yourself off as a handheld? I have one and it is a dream.

When I was pregnant, I was severely pregnant. There was no getting into the tub without getting stuck there. I bought my removeable showerhead with an extra long cord and one of those senior sit-down seats to put in the tub. It worked out pretty good and served as a cheap alternative.

Ick. I hate showers too. Until we moved to this new house I NEVER took a shower. Now we only have an itty bitty tub that I can hardly fit in. I am stuck with showers now too. I would love a tub with jets. That sounds like paradise.

The turkeys here in PA aren't very bright, either. They've been known to fly into bus windshields...hard enough to end up inside the bus. There's a large flock on my route and a close encounter with a turkey is one of my worst nightmares.

I'm so sorry you are not feeling well. Kisses to your lungs. I shall send you my guardian angel tonight so that he may comfort you extra and you should rest that much more.

Pennie's job sounds hard. We are so lucky to have someone with her spiritual faith and love of mankind to do her job. it takes a strong but gentle hand.

i love showers. i haven't taken a bath in about 9.5 yrs..the first few yrs was after my accident and how i wasn't moving too much...and since about 4.5 yrs we live in this home and i don't have a tub here..there are 3 full bathrooms and no bathub that can be used, trust me long, long, story..

the little kids, specially the 2 little ones love to go to grandma's and bath and play for hrs there. soon, i'm sure we will get these silly bathrooms in shape. the basement that flooded 2 yrs ago and destroy that level will have a basement system etc..to prevent such floods again starting monday. that should go until wed. we have had black mold down there and it has not been the best for my lungs and so i'm excited that this nightmare will be over soon..
on thursday i shall have surgery in one eye. was supposed to be both but last time i had many complications and i was kinda without sight for over 2 wks..now the doc is ready for we know about the allergic reaction to one med and for the long, long time i take to heal and for the bleeding etc..So he wants to go easier on my body and do one eye at a time. it is to correct eyesight as a bonus and for some tissue that is being silly. i'm not scared for i know what to expect and because on the 9th my kids don't have school and so i know i will have lots of noise...it was the quiet and alone thing that freaked me out 2 yrs ago. don't worry this is no biggie..they are all prepared and it will help in my sight at night..

the lungs testing they wanted to do will have to wait for at least 6 wks after the eye is done. they don't go near a person who has had certain surgeries. in the meantime my asthma is still under control and my cough is lessening daily.

see how many blessings daily. i can take all the blog space to name them all. Keka is better on the new meds and so she is not in pain and no set backs.

the 3 little kids got to go spend the day and night and tomorrow with grandma and auntie and their 2 cousins which they all adore and miss teribbly..they are having a great time and i'm at home with the 2 oldest ones watching tv and resting and sleeping..

i'm so happy the Pastor and wife are having a grand time. it is good for them to have this time for themselves and for each other. they dedicate their lives for others and they too need a break to recharge.

well, i'm off to sleep now. God Bless and sweet dreams. peaceful and easy breathing sir. much love, many hugs and kisses to everyone.

I have to ask Tom if that is his problem? He hates to shower also, and as far as I know he has NEVER taken a bath. Us women we shower each and everyday, to think of not showering daily makes our nose curl up. But you men, I know, I know, you hate showers. BUT REALLY!! haha

hmmmmmm a solution, since men are already so spoiled I guess we women need to go one step further, and go in and regulate the water in the shower for you guys, get it at a nice temperature, lay out a towel, get the heater going, till the room is nice and toasty, and then let you know your shower is ready. That would be nice, huh.
