Soft Internet Facts

Saying for the day: There are three kinds of death in this world. There's heart death, there's brain death, and there's being off the network. ~Guy Almes

It is time for our Saturday “Internet Facts”
Ever Saturday we give you fifteen facts that you can astonish your friends with.
Tell them you got them from the internet so they must be true.
One of the facts is verified.
Last week that was 9. Only five major league teams have won games in which they did not get a single hit.

Today one fact is verified. The other fourteen I made up this morning.
That doesn’t mean the others aren’t true because I am a pretty good maker upper.
Can you pick out the verified fact?

1. The most common filling for pillows comes from ducks or geese.

2. The US government has an agency that checks the softness of pillows.

3. More than 6,000 people with pillow-related injuries check into U.S. emergency rooms every year!

4. In all but three states hospital pillows must, by law, be purchased through a medical supplier.

5. Pillows in Wisconsin Motels must be white.

6. The Fordham pillow if used every night can help ease back pain.

7. More children are hurt in pillow fights every year than are injured in bicycle accidents.

8. The English Royal Medal of Honor is always presented on a gold inlaid pillow.

9. Drawings of people sleeping on pillow like objects have been found on the walls of caves in France.

10. The majority of pillows sold in the United States are made in Mexico.

11. The oldest company still making pillows in the United States is the Grayson Pillow Company which was founded in 1891.

12. Barr’s Book of Pillows lists over one thousand odd facts about pillows and has fifty pictures of unusual pillows.

13. The original “ Pillow Fight” movie stared a young Jimmy Stewart.

14. In Appleton Wisconsin throw or couch pillows may not be used on a bed.

15. The oldest existing pillow is in a Swiss Museum and dates from the fourth century.

I will give the verifiable fact tomorrow.

#### News from Pigeon Falls-The little town in my basement where the trains still run, dragons fly, and life is back to normal . Eino is still waiting for his friend in the FBI to get back to him on the fingerprint they found on the passport. Tommy UK hopes it will give them a lead to the man in black.
Bonnie McGregor’s daughter is staying for a couple of days to help her mother with the babies. Much to their surprise Russel is helping as well. Bonnie says he never got up once with the other three kids but now he has been up both nights helping with the twins. His explanation is that she was younger then and didn’t need any help but it just might be that helping with the twins makes Russel feel younger.
Tommy TW is writing again. It seems that his writer’s block is gone. He says that his trip to Canada has given him some new insights into his characters and the book is moving in a whole new direction.
Nancy is back at the coffee shop which makes people happy. She makes the best saffron buns and the ones they had while she was gone weren’t nearly as good. Then , of course, there is the fact that she expedites local information sharing ( handles gossip well).
One of the pieces of information is that nobody has seen Mrs. Petrovich in almost a month. Petrovich, himself, is doing all the grocery shopping . Some have even suggested he is keeping her prisoner or even that he killed her and buried her in then backyard. There is a big plot there that has been dug up.

Today's Link-The Slow Cook-Some thoughts on organic farming

It was a family day at the Fortrss. My entire , immediate, family was here. Pat's boys brought gifts for Bree so we celebrated her birthday again. We laughed , talked, and had a general good time. I played computer games with the grandsons. Then we went out to eat at Old Country Buffet. I got out of the Fortress. Came back and enjoyed the company for a little while longer. Now they have all gone to Lifefest so I am home alone. I have to go give myself a breathing treatment.

I think it is either 7 or 11...I'll pick 11. Cute kid!

Did you know that dog pillows originally started out as people pillows but people wanted to get the dogs off their beds so they put their pillows on the floor for the dogs. OK...I made it up...but it could have happened that way.

I love your Saying for the Day - so true!
I haven't a hope of working out which fact is true - you're much too good at making them up.
    Great photos of your grand-daughter.

If the govt. didn't test pillows before, they surely will now!

Your granddaughter is a hoot. Sorry, I posted this morning but looks like blogger ate it. I think number 11. Grayson Pillow maker being the oldest might be the right answer. It's believable at least :)
You are the King of maker-uppers :)

As several other commentors think, I go for number 2 also. Governments have some "weird" agencies.

Like in the Swiss Ministry of Agriculture where there is an office which controls (or did) the production of potatoes. And the circulation of drinkable alcohol.

I'm guessing Barr's book - this is always my favorite of your post. If I'm not here commenting, I'm always guessing via google reader!
