A Walk in Bath Tub

Since neither Betty nor I can take a bath in a regular bathtub we are looking for a bathtub with a door like we had at the other house. Now if you Google “walk in bathtubs” you will find a lot of them on the internet. There are beautiful pictures. There are descriptions of all the features. There are offers of $2000 off and 70% below regular price.
The only thing that is missing in almost every add is the price.
Sure they will knock $ 2000 off but off of what? Yes they are 70% below but below what? If you don’t list a price such adds have no meaning.
So I send an E-mail and ask for a price. The usual response is a telephone call and an attempt to get a salesman into my house. It seems that walk in tubs are so complicated that we really need to have a man come and explain them to us.
We believed that nonsense when we bought the walk in tub for the last house. We found one company that listed their price on the internet . Then we agreed to have a man come from a different company to “advise” us on the nature of the tub we would need. They would not give us a price without the visit.
So he came. After a lot of nonsense we finally got a price from him which was $4000 above the price of the other company. We told him we felt that the price was high and we couldn’t afford it. Then because he cared about us he offered to knock $2000 off the price. That left him $2000 above the other company. When we didn’t seem moved by his offer he told us his manager might not approve so we needed to sign that day. (A little pressure) . We told him we still felt the price was high . That’s when he told us there were companies out there that advertised a low price, took your money, but never sent the tub. I asked for the name of the companies but he said he didn’t know he had just heard that they were there. Then he played his last cared. He had come all that way to help us and he didn’t want to go back empty handed.
This is where Betty told him we would think about it and showed him the door. I swear my kind loving wife had steam coming from her ears. She felt the company had betrayed our trust. He didn’t come to help us he came to sell us.
So this time we entertain no salesmen. If they won’t give us a price by e-mail or phone then we won’t consider them even if they offer $2000 off a price they never list.

@@@@ News from Pigeon Falls-The little town in my garage where the trains still run, dragons fly, and deer chase dogs– Yesterday one of our local deer ( not your father’s deer) was seen chasing a poor little dog down the road. The dog finally escaped under the passenger platform at the railroad station. It used to be that dogs chased deer. But the deer in Pigeon Falls are not like those deer. Pigeon Falls deer wander into town at any time of day. They eat flowers they aren’t supposed to like eating. You know the ones with little deer symbols in the catalogue . And they seem to delight in chasing dogs. A couple of Sundays ago when it was really warm Last Lutheran left the doors open and a deer wandered in and down the aisle. The members managed to turn it around and chase it out. Somebody suggested that Pastor Moe should confirm it before it goes then it won’t come back. At least the deer are sober not like the moose that staggered into town last summer.

The White Rabbit was seen again yesterday at the end of main street. It waved at everybody and then went off to the woods. People seem happy to have it back. Its like an old friend coming back from Florida. Mrs. Trumble, on the other hand, doesn’t see it that way. She see the rabbit as a demonic presence. She thinks the town needs to be protected from it.

Spent much of the day printing out my January blog entries to send to my sister who is not on the internet but who likes to read them. I am a few months behind because as you all know I procrastinate. Then I visited the blogs that visited me today and yesterday. I thought that might be better than simply working my link list. Now I need a breathing treatment.
