Odds and Ends

Saying for the day- Friends share their treasures with their friends.

Odds and Ends– Some things I discovered while I was blogging last week.

Let’s start with the Lord’s prayer. If you pray it every day without thinking about it you need to read this entry on Alastair’s blog.

You may have seen the term Yooper on this blog and wondered what it ment. Well here is an entire blog that fills out the meaning for you, Upper Peninsula and Beyond.

Want help in protecting your children on the internet. Margaret gives us some helpful ideas.

Finally if you want to see a funny blog on computer program marriage then read Tina Drays Technical Support. Or be sure to read her husband, Bazza’s, response as well.

I want to close this week’s “Odds and Ends” with an observation on Cindra’s word game. I don’t know if you have noticed but the entries are getting longer. For example in the game a week ago entries A-I used 3961 words . This week entries a-I used 4149 words. The lowest number of words a week ago was F with 56. This week it was H with 74 words. The highest word count a week ago was A with 859 words this week it was E with 1259. It if this trend continues the blog may by a year from now have the first novel published on line in response to a contest.

@@@@News from Pigeon Falls-The little town in my garage where trains still run, dragons once flew, and Pastor Marvel is leaving—The New Potatoes won again last night. The town is beginning to take those wins for granted. Bob Pfeifer, who knows everything, says they really need to lose a game before the tournaments begin. Its not good to go into the tournaments thinking your invincible. On the other hand all those games they lost at the start of the season should remind them that they are not invincible. They play again tomorrow night.
Tommy UK didn’t go to the game . He just sat home in his room. According to the doc his leg is healing nicely and soon he can be through with the crutch. His dad tried to get him to go but he wouldn’t. He just sits in his room and stares at the rock he got from the science magazine. Its in a clear plastic case and according to Tommy UK its not a rock it’s a piece of a comet. His dad is so concerned that he asked his good friend Tommy the Pastor’s Kid (Methodist)to come over and spend some time with him. Tommy PK tried to get him to come down to Nancy’s for a soda but he wouldn’t. He told Tommy PK that the rock needs him. Its lonely. At that point Tommy PK asked Tommy UK if when he hit that deer he banged his head. Tommy PK says that the object in the case is a living being. It keeps begging him not to leave and saying over and over that it has been lonely for so long. Because of Tommy UK’s past history of tricks and jokes Tommy PK doesn’t know if he is serious or not. But he is worried about him, very worried.
Tomorrow is Pastor Marvel’s going away party and the town is going all out to make it an event he will never forget. Vicki East has written one of her special songs for the occasion and will sing it herself. And there will be all kinds of tears shed. They want to make it as hard as possible for the poor guy to leave.
Nancy says she can’t believe it but the Jackson’s have reconciled again and are going to give it another try. Pastor Marvel took time out from his packing to sit down with them and work through the latest nonsense. That man will be missed.

Feeling much better this morning though my stomach is till upset.
It was a good day. My sister called she is worried about my breathing problems. I did some blogging. Watched my soaps. Went looking for new links. Then Pennie came home early and is not on call and we played canasta and Betty won. Then I visited all my links. Now I need a breathing treatment.

What's so odd about a living rock talking to a kid in a town that has a dragon, a sweater-wearing rabbit and buildings that up and disappear? Sounds like just another day in Pigeon Falls to me.

Rocks are survivors of their environment and are worth listening to.
Sorry to hear you've not been well Dr. John - you must get better and do a tour of the Lions of the Valley in downtown Appleton in a couple of weeks. I'll be interested to see what they'll have to tell you!

Dr. John -- did you find your missing comments posted on my blog? Blogger hasn't been allowing me to visit you. I left you a note over there.

The entries at Cindra's word game are getting so long, I get exhausted reading them. (You know she is family, I can say that.)
