Whose fault is it?

Some of those released from Guantanamo have gone back to their home country and joined Al Qida. The right is suggesting this is Obama’s fault. We will pay for his being so stupid in increased terrorism.
My question is this “ Who gave these people the stories about the way American’s treat prisoners? Who taught them to hate us ? Who waterboarded them? Who took away their dignity? Who filled them with hate for us.
It wasn’t Obama.
Who failed the American people and approved torture?
It wasn’t Obama.
Who failed despite all that torture to prove some of them guilty of anything? Who had to release them because we could never prove anything in a real court?
It wasn’t Obama.
To find the real guilty one s in this scenario the right has to look back.
The good news is that under Obama we will create no more of them.
We will not torture.
We will live up to our ideals.
We will set an example of how a free people act toward others.

News from Pigeon Falls
The little town in my basement where the trains still run, dragons fly, and life is back to normal.
Yesterday at eleven o’clock it appeared at the end of main street.
It is hard to describe this thing . It was unlike anything Pigeon Falls had ever seen. It had arms and legs and a head but it wasn’t human. It was covered with fire. It was so hot that the snow and ice on both sides of the street were melting. At first it just stood there as if confused and then it slowly started moving toward Last Lutheran and City Hall. As it moved it left footprints in the blacktop
Those unlucky enough to be in town hid in the various stores. Old Jethro Gribs jumped into his car and drove out of town away from the being. There was no way Jethro was going to have any part of his new car melted. He had saved too long for that car.
The creature continued to move slowly and deliberately as if expecting some resistance. Then it came. The oldest and largest of the dragons appeared and poured down flame upon the being. But before the flame could hit the demon raised its hand and flame met flame. Now it was a test of wills and strength. The dragon flame pushing down and the demon flame pushing up. At first it was rather even. The dragon flame seeming to move down only to be pushed back by the being’s flame. But little by little it became obvious the demon would win. Finally the demon raised its other hand and a flame hit the dragon in the side sending it rolling over the Masonic building and out into the woods.
Now the demon moved forward slowly again. It had stood so long in one place there was a large puddle of blacktop material where it had been standing. Suddenly it stopped and the flame on one side flickered.
To be continued.

Wrap UP
A really good breathing day. My oxygen was up in the low normal range and I didn't need the little tank all day. I started cleaning up my link list but I can see it is going to take some time. Betty went and had tests made at the clinic. I ordered a few small things for the lake module on the train set. Now I need a breathing treatment.

There is so much wrong with the our country as it stood when Obama took office -- and HE is going to take the heat for whatever fixes he brings forth! Because there are two sides to every problem and some will be FOR and some will be AGAINST any move he makes! I pray his shoulders remain broad and firm!

What in the WORLD??? Pigeon Falls is NOT a comic book! WHAT is this thing??? One expects Superman or Wolverine or ... or... AQUAMAN!!! That's who we need! If you can't fight fire with FIRE, then I guess you just need to extinguish it! Call the fire department!!!

I honestly go back and forth in how I feel about war things, but I do wonder how we can remember the things that happened to American POW's in Vietnam and do some of the same things to our prisoners nowin.

I loved your editorial on Obama, Dr. John. Reclaiming our American values is going to be painful, but in order for us to be who and what we claim we are, it needs to be done.

And I am very afraid for Pigeon Falls. This is one scary monster.

Thank you for voicing your thoughts on Gitmo, and American values. It was well said.

Holy cow I didn't know it was a demon - why did it appear? Can't the other dragons help with the fiery standoff?

i think pigeon falls will need a combined effort and a lot of oops magic to ward off this danger...

having said which, i think obama could also use some oops magic to undo all the wrongdoings of the previous establishment.

I liked reading this Dr John, I am sure things will all work out in the end.

I hope that the coming visit to Ottawa between your President and our Prime Minister will be a good one.

Blessings to you and Betty.

Loved today's quote Dr.John. Sometimes the soul is much harder to fix.

If I understand the Gitmo closing those who we know are responsible and we can show it will be tried. The others we shouldn't have had to begin with.
These people were terrorists before they were imprisoned so yes that's what they will go back to continue to be.
I don't think I'll see the end of terrorism in my lifetime; but I hope our country's leaders will be diligant so that it never again happens on American soil.

Some of the media reports and interviews on the GitMo stuff has been so stupid. The "opposition" has been trying to say that because Obama is studying the issue and wants the place closed, that automatically means that the prisoners will be let free. And then they link that to the guy that went back to being a terrorist. Well, that has nothing to do with closing the place, since it was open when they (Bushites) let him out. One commentator did figure out that the recidivism rate for GitMo is 1% compared to 60% for regular American prisons. So far. I believe that the so called Right can't distinguish between past and future, and between what Bush actually did and what might happen under Obama. They are already criticizing Obama for things that haven't even happened yet. So much for critical thinking.

When Guantanamo closes, Switzerland has offered to "accommodate" some of the (ex)inmates. Because Switzerland has always being a country that has stood out for humanitarian issues. But also because Switzerland has a hidden agenda. They think that, with this offer, the US government will not be to harsh (or might even drop) an issue with Switzerland's biggest bank UBS in some "fishy" things.

On a personal note, I hope that the US will be harsh with UBS. I have personal reasons for having a huge grudge against them (the UBS, not the US government).

Guantanamo is a shame in our civilized world ! It's nothing else but a concentration camp, and it is even worse that the whole world tolerated it with some protesting. But there are still a lot of fanatics who think Guantanamo is necessary. Obama did the right thing and it was his first action ! Bravo !
