Don't Vote

Today's Link
The Smitten Image

Saying for the Day
Do you ever get the feeling that the only reason we have elections is to find out if the polls were right? ~Robert Orben

Picture of the Day

A different view of responsibility.

If Obama wins large today he will claim it is a mandate for his programs.
If McCain wins today he will claim a mandate as well.
But people have not been encouraged to vote for something positive but to vote their fears and their greed.
If Mccain gets in:
Woman lose their rights
Social security is doomed
The wealthy get all the breaks
The idiot Palen could end up as President
Vote your fear now!
If Obama gets in
We will go socialist
The nation will be in the hands of terrorists
Our efforts in Iraq will be wasted
Millions of unborn babies will be killed
Vote your fear now!
But fear gives no mandate. It is not for something but against a spooky non-existent monster.
Better not to vote. Duh!

News from Pigeon Falls
The little town in my basement where the trains still run, dragons fly, and life is back to normal.
Today most of the residents of Pigeon Falls will vote. Most of them will vote Democratic, There just aren’t many Republicans in Pigeon Falls. That’s because of the mines that once provided the primary income for the town, one does not live by pigeons alone. The Miners fought hard to be treated fairly and get decent wages. The unions were the center of that fight and the unions were in favor of the Democrats. Thus, even though the mines are long gone except for one, most people went right on being Democrat. They did elect a Republican County Board once during the early Reagen years but it didn’t last. So today most people will vote for Obama.
Of course Eino, a die hard Republican, will vote for McCain and so will his family. His family has voted Republican forever and ever. It is said that they would vote Republican if the devil ran on the ticket. But that’s okay. In Pigeon Falls very few people get excited over politics.
There was one bit of excitement two drunks that haven’t voted for years got into a fight over the relative merits of McCain and Obama. But those two would fight over who should win a TV reality show or who should get an Emmy. They just like to fight.
What is really being talked about in Pigeon Falls this election day is the latest driblet. It has people really scared. Petrovich’s driblets in the past have always meant some kind of trouble for the town. Tommy UK has usually stepped in and saved them but he seems as confused as they are.
Herman says that driblets are dumb. His visions are clear. A cow is a cow and a roof is a roof. You don’t have to guess what they mean. They aren’t scary either. Well his Obama vision might be scary to Republicans. But it is clear. Obama is going to win. His visions are the way visions should be. He is a real seer. His wife is quick to remind him that if he has another vision then he will be a seer without a house or a wife.
Wrap UP
Now I have just about lost my voice, colds do that to me. But again the oxygen was in the normal range so I can't complain. In the morning I printed out my July blogs to send to my non-internet sister Dawn. That took a large amount of time. Betty went to Bible Study. Then I worked on my link list. In the afternoon Betty went and voted. Then we went and worked on the layout. The second tunnel was put in place and tested. Then we put the creek or the river together. At one place the track goes over it and that worked. After that Betty stapled up the depends as the base for the mountains she will create tomorrow with plaster cloth. Everything is coming along fine. Then I visited most of my links. Now I need a breathing treatment but I won't be able to wat6ch NCIS because the network thinks that we want ongoing coverage of the election. I will watch something on cable.

LOL! I do agree NOT voting is a GREAT solution -- IF we could get the entire nation to go along with it! But wouldn't we then all be "scared" that SOMEBODY wouldn't play fair? That SOMEBODY would sneak in and vote? You know... ONE bad apple... well... I reckon I'll go ahead and vote - and let God turn it to the good! And then I'll go back to bed and stick my head in the sand and wait for TOMORROW to arrive at last!!! *breaks into song* Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya tomorrow, your ONLY a day awaaaaaaay...

How in the world did Eino end up a republican? Must be something in THAT history I don't know about!

I hope your cold is better! Your prayed up!

I am worried for Pigeon Falls. Each disaster seems to be worse than the last and someday one will come that they cann;t survive.

I love the photograph. I'm sorry you are dealing with a cold.

I can understand why you see the election the way you do but I am optimistic about how many young people have gotten excited about this election (not just in negative ways). I guess we'll see what happens, not just with the election but with what comes after it.

I'm glad your oxygen was in normal range and hope you will be over your cold soon.

I think what you voice out about the voting, is what many people fear. And yet, one of them will get elected. Who will be the lesser evil?

Happy to tell you that from the around 40000 Americans living in Belgium all voted for Obama. There was an interview of some of them in the local TV. And Obama won ! I am happy for them.

Not voting would not be an option for me. I was brought up in a country where voting was compulsory.

And now you know the results. But too bad about NCIS. I was disappointed too.
