A wonderful world

Saying for the day:We can often do more for other men by trying to correct our own faults than by trying to correct theirs. Francois Fenelon

It would be a wonderful world if our children respected us and did what we told them. It would be a wonderful world if nobody stole from us or cheated us. It would be a wonderful world if nobody lied about us. It would be a wonderful world if there were no crazies who wanted to blow us up or shoot us. It would be a wonderful world if all spouses were faithful and really in love . It would be a wonderful world if we were happy with what we had instead of wishing for something better.
Did it ever occur to you that God wanted us to have the most wonderful of worlds so He gave us the ten commandments.

@@@@ News from Pigeon Falls-The little town in my basement where the trains still run, dragons fly, and life goes on.– The big prayer service is today. All the churches coming together to pray for an end to this weather. The service will be proceeded by a big dinner with Lutheran soup, Methodist pasties, Baptist salad, and Catholic pie ( three kinds) Of course Nancy is making the coffee. Father Bill wanted to serve wine as well but the Baptists said no to that. At the service , itself, there will be hymn singing ( possibly the Pigeon Falls song though it’s not a hymn), a period of free prayer and then a prayer by Pastor Dawn. The closing liturgy will be lead by Father Bill.
Petrovich has announced that he will give $ 1000 to anyone who can bring the lightning woman to sing in Pigeon Falls. Towner Maki says for that kind of money he might risk the pain and humiliation and try. Several others that frequent the Fly Inn are now also considering trying. Getting rid of the snow is one thing but $1000 is something else.
Plans are going full speed ahead for the big winter carnival and snow mobile race. The event is now set for next Saturday. Virginia Nelson has been a great help with the snow mobile part. She is so good that she should live in Pigeon Falls. The rest of the people doing the planning and preparation are local. Invites have been sent to every snow mobile club in the UP. After the race people are invited to ride the three sets of trails from town to the Lake of the Loons. The Methodist ladies, of course , will sell hot pasties.

Today's Link- Not Alone- A Lutheran sermon
Went to church this morning . Both the choir and the Sunday School sang. It was a great service. Then the family went to Country Buffet for lunch except for Pennie who got called to the hospital. When we came back Alex and I played Pennie and Betty in a game of canasta but they had to leave before we finished it. Now I need a breathing treatment.

As a parent now, this is so true. Often rules are meant to be guidance out of care, compassion and love.

Dr. John, I seemed to have lost your email address. Could you email me privately, I have a favor to ask of you. =O)

Thanks.

Only $1000.00? Will that cover the medical expenses?

What a wonderful world it would be if we all just loved and respected each other. I dont know what happened to our world...but I know this is not what God intended for it to be. Im sure when he looks upon us he has tears in his eyes.

Wouldn't it be a wonderful world indeed if people lived by them, but I have found during my life, that a lot of people wish that others would follow the 10 commandments, but for themselves, three or four will do. haha

We lived by the golden rule......don't do anything to anyone else that you wouldn't want done to you.......it works for me.

Petrovich is at least headed in the right direction. $1000 still sounds cheap to save one's reputation.

So will the snowmobilers be sad if the prayers from the service are answered? Tho will Tommy UK sneak in and pray it stays cold? Whose prayer will get answered. Hmmm.

Why do we shop where we shop
and do we shop for what we want
or just take from a shelf whatever is offer at the store.

How many things get bought no one really needs, yet somehow retailers or big ones like Wall Mart seem to know what we'll buy

Is it because they can read our mind, or is it because they know we can be led like sheep

Either way gotta go, ... beep, beep
