Full Service Wal-Mart

Saying for the day:Wal-Mart is evil! But i Shop there because I'm a poor college student.-Seen on a T- Shirt

Wal-Mart just keeps expanding it’s vision of how it can serve the community. Once it sold variety store things then it expanded to groceries. Now it stands on the brink of becoming a full service store.
It begins with Employees Chet Eldridge and Danna Hornback tying the knot amid the retailer's flowers, shrubs and lawn chairs . This announcement came over the loud speaker system ‘Attention Wal-Mart shoppers, wedding in lawn and garden.’
Eldridge, 51, an automotive manager, and Hornback, 45, an arts and crafts associate, met during the store's employee orientation. She agreed to their first date in the furniture section. After the couple became engaged, a manager suggested they exchange vows at the store. "We met here; he asked me out here. Why not?" Hornback said.
This could be the beginning of the Wal-Mart wedding and funeral chapel. With a Wal-Mart trained and ordained pastor to marry and bury who will need a church. Wal-Mart can give a 10% discount on gifts purchased for couples being married in the store chapel and can wrap them for you. It can also have available cards for the grieving. Everything you need in one stop place.
So don’t be surprised if you hear over the Wal-Mart loud speaker “ Attention Shoppers ! Funeral services for —— now being held in the Wal-Mart chapel. Why not?

@@@@ News from Pigeon Falls-The little town in my basement where the trains still run, dragons fly, and life goes on.– It is still snowy and cold ( zero degrees) in Pigeon Falls despite the big prayer meeting. One has the feeling that the people who went to pray didn’t expect God to provide a sudden change since they all came bundled up. If they expected a change they would have come in a fall sweater. Though the prayer meeting didn’t do much about the weather it did bring all four churches together and that’s not a bad thing. In addition the food at the dinner was excellent.
The group planning next Saturday’s big winter carnival must have breathed a sigh of relief when the prayer meeting didn’t seem to make a dent on the weather. They already have people coming in to snow mobile, the ski hill is going all day, and Saturday they will flood part of the main street for skating. Pigeon Falls has more tourists than ever and some are paying to stay in private homes. Even the local church camp is renting out those cabins that are heated. It seems people can learn to live with winter.
So far two men are saying they might go to Marquette and wrestle lightning woman. Those that know them and have seen her wrestle say that there is no way they will last five minutes with her in the ring. Petrovich has put up signs all over town offering $1000 to anyone that last the five minutes so there could be still other takers. Tom Louis says he’d like to volunteer his wife. She’s so tough she could wrestle a bear. Mrs. Louis says that if he doesn’t stop with such nonsense he can sleep on the couch.

Had a good day today. Breathing was good. Betty and I set to decluttering the living room and dining room area. We too everything that had been placed on every flat surface available and put it on the kitchen table. Then we went through and either filed or threw what was there. We didn't finish as the pile was too high but we got a good start. I also got in one soap opera. Then we went grocery shopping. Now I need a breathing treatment.

A One Stop for everything you'll ever need. Their only problem is that they appeal to everyone's needs thus the parking lot is jammed full and the lines at each register is a mile long.

Shopping there takes all day. In this day when time equals money I prefer to shop at the ole' Mom & Pops.

In some ways I prefer the old WM when they were proud of the American made products and kept them in stock. Now you buy something and next week you can't find another. But I guess it is nice to find love at WalMart. Me I find crabby people, including me, especially when there are 24 check out counders at three are open during busy times.

Do you suppose we'd have to watch for those falling prices on funerals?

If Walmart offers the cheaper funerals they might just be onto something....you can probably even get a discount on the flowers!

I think Petrovich should pay to have the wrestling event come to Pigeon Falls. They could hold it during the winter festival. Petrovich needs to cough it up.

Dr. John, that's a brilliant suggestion for the Wal-Mart visioning board. Patrons can visit the beauty/barber shop before attending the wedding/funeral of their choice while getting their car lubed and/or their tires rotated. Then they can stop by the restaurant on the way out the door with their new refrigerator, the groceries to put in it, the pots and pans to cook it in,dishes and utensils to eat it from; aprons for wearing while cooking, clothing to wear under the apron ......

Dr. John,
This is funny stuff. You really need to find an outlet for it. Not that this is not an outlet, but I mean you should submit it as a humorous op-ed to your local paper or something like that. I try to defend Wal-Mart when possible because it seems to get an unfair "shake" just because it is so huge. The local Wal-mart that just opened in Grand Haven was required to preserve a small "wet land" beside the parking lot smaller than a baseball infield. They made them build a boardwalk through it to the cost of about $800,000. Then they made them keep all the trees between their store and I-31. End result: you can't see the store until you turn into the driveway. Across the street, however there is a new Meijer (a very comparable size store based in West Michigan) and it is wide open from the road. The locals tried to keep Wal-Mart out, but instead they made them hide the new store in the woods. =) Anyway... funny post!

Over here Wal Mart are called ASDA, but the end result is the same, at least there is competition from the likes of TESCO and Sainsbury's. It does seem strange that supermarkets are now offering insurance, banking and even babies ( I may have lied about the last one, but watch this space)

Oh, my goodness! you have some twisted humor and actually, brilliant logic, that should have a broader audience, Dr. John. You are always full of surprises...not that I don't think you are just brilliant as can be...but this insightful correspondence on our times and values...well...you could be published beyond just blogspot.

not that blogspot is a bad thing...

Oh, and P.S. don't forget to vote at TGQDC!

Hello everyone!
I would like to burn a theme at this forum. There is such a thing, called HYIP, or High Yield Investment Program. It reminds of ponzy-like structure, but in rare cases one may happen to meet a company that really pays up to 2% daily not on invested money, but from real profits.

For quite a long time, I make money with the help of these programs.
I don't have problems with money now, but there are heights that must be conquered . I get now up to 2G a day , and my first investment was 500 dollars only.
Right now, I managed to catch a guaranteed variant to make a sharp rise . Turn to my web site to get additional info.
