Wednesday July 13

Saying for the day:If you wish to live wisely, ignore sayings including this one.
......The big wedding last Saturday set people to thinking, not always a good thing, about the other Jupola brother, Veikko Jupola. Veikko was the oldest of the brothers and when he turned eighteen he got on the train and was never heard from again. Some said he joined the army, some said he went to California, some said he got rich in New York, and some even said he changed his name and became an actor. But nobody really knows what the true story is. But, as you well know, that doesn't stop people in small towns like Pigeon Falls from telling and retelling the stories . Angela South, our resident interned expert, went on the internet to Peoplesearch.com and found four Veikko Jupolas. But she didn't want to pay the $9.98 fee per person to get more information. So what she found out is one was in California, one was in new York, one was in Chicago, and one was in Florida. That's one for each story, not bad. After all these years its doubtful that we will ever find out what happened to him. Angela asked Eino if he wanted the information enough to pay for it. Eino said he didn't even want it for free . He has no use for the older brother who " hasn't even bothered to contact them in all these years. Where was he when dad was dying." It would, of course, have meant a lot to Eino's dad to hear from Veikko in those last days like in the story of the prodigal son. But , of course, it never happened . When it comes to Veikko Eino is pretty bitter. Well I'll keep you informed.
........ Had a very good night last night. Decided to get a home inventory program from sharware so we could keep track of the things we are putting away for safe keeping. Found one and am now doing an inventory of the office drawers. Worked for an hour in the garage putting all the wood in one place and winding up wire. Betty went to Tops. In the afternoon it was back to the inventory and making maps for our trip at the end of the month. Betty then set about making something for the LCW picnic tomorrow which she can't go to because she has a Dr.'s appointment. We really have to get back to working on the railroad but its been so hot. We were going to put rocks tonight but it rained. I installed a new bible program that has three bible versions and a search function. Well I need a breathing treatment.

What is a brother to do but run off and join the circus in which he can travel to california, New York and Chicago. Good to know that no one is paying to get information.
