The Phrase for the Day

Mitä tämä maksaa?

How much does this cost?

@@@@@ News from Pigeon Falls-The little town in my garage where the trains still run, dragons fly , and some mysteries never get solved.-It is Tuesday and the great Bubble Gum ballot mystery looks as if it is no closer to being solved than when it was first noticed. The Bishop says they should forget about it as it will have no impact. If it’s a yes, a no, or another confused the final result will be that Pastor Castle is issued a call. Now the congregation should be praying for God’s will to be done and that Pastor Castle will come.( God’s will being the same as that of the Bishop).
Pastor Castle is having a hard time deciding. Her husband says that he doesn’t care and will go where she goes. But she knows he likes it where they are and has some good fishing buddies in the parish. She knows that people are praying for her to stay. She knows the Bishop wants her to move. Once that would have been enough to push the Pastor to go but with the shortage of pastors in the church the Bishop doesn’t have as much power as he once had. But she did check the box on the annual form that said she would consider another call.
She checked that form because she knew she had made a lot of mistakes in this her first Parish. She wanted a chance to start over and do things right. She was also tired of all that driving. She was putting over sixty thousand miles a year on her car. She had three hospitals to visit. The closest was forty miles away. She had three churches that she had to drive to every Sunday and preach three sermons. She wanted a parish where she could put more of her effort into serving and less into driving.
But despite all of that she had grown to love the people in this parish and it was hard to think of leaving them. So while people in both parishes prayed so did Pastor Castle. They prayed for her to come or to go but she prayed for help in deciding.

Today's Link- Life in Finland and Beyond-Today it has fun facts about Espoo. Leave a fun Dr. John in a comment.
Busy day. We packed up last Friday's prize and will mail it tomorrow. We did a lot of work in the basement. There is now enough open space to build and put in place another train table. We have bags of garbage to haul out and bundles of cardboard to take to the recycling center. I saw a couple of my soaps. The dog went in the pool twice and then rolled in the dirt and brought it all into the house. Now I need a breathing treatment.

A pastor's life is a tricky one that not many would choose (or be able to handle). Guess that's why only the gifted are called. And even then, if you throw in a particularly difficult congregation the called might flounder.

Well, Dr. John. YOu are officially hip. Using Manga characters to teach Finnish.

I have a feeling that Tommy UK is going to end up playing a part in Pastor Castle's decision --- whether she likes it or not.
