Raven's Challenge 70

Today's Link
Home of Heroes

Today's Saying
You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism. ~Erma Bombeck

Today's Picture

It is Saturday and time to play with words supplied by Raven's Wordzzle
This Week's Ten Word Challenge will be: Florida, spit, child bride, operatic, busy, holding pattern, sunflowers, ginger jars, office, superintendent
For the mini challenge: music to my ears, plot, powerful, braggart, super model

The Mega Challenge as
The Ongoing Adventures of Agent 012

Agent 012 had only been home two days when he was called back to the office to work on the case code named “The Florida Child Bride”. Why it was given that code name nobody knew since it involved neither a child nor a bride and had nothing to do with Florida. Agent 141 said that just once he would like a name for an operation that had something to do with the operation instead of names like operatic sunflowers, braggart spit, and ginger jars. Well you could make a case for ginger jars since it concerned powerful explosives packed in bottles that had to be handled with care. Apparently former Agent 036 didn’t get the hint and threw one of those bottles at a mute operative. The office was busy for a long time after that trying to replace her. They really needed some other system for naming cases.
Agent 012 felt that a super model would be a double name system. Then the name given to the agent in private would be clear and the crazy code name could be used in all correspondence in case it was intercepted by Mute. The superintendent of code promised the Chief that he would put the way in which code names were picked in a holding pattern until it was given careful study. Agent 012 said “ This is music to my ears.”
At this point Agent 012 asked that they be filled in on The Florida Child Bride Case. We need to begin to plot strategy.
The strange thing is nobody had the slightest idea of what the case was. All anybody had been given was the code name.
Agent 012 stood there trying to figure out if he was having a good or a bad day.

The ten word challenge-It's Okay

Ida Florida the Office Superintendent of the Ginger Jars and Plates company took a week off to go and see the somewhat operatic play. Sunflowers for the Child Bride, in New York. While she was gone the normally busy office went into a holding pattern and absolutely nothing got done. People in the office were afraid to as much as spit without her okay. This was obviously not a good way to run an office but it was her way and when she was there it worked. On her return one of the workers decided he could no longer live like that so he shot her without her okay.

The mini challenge-At Last Justice

As the plot for next week’s episode of “ This Side of Heaven” was read to me it sounded like music to my ears. Finally the powerful braggart of a bully that always seemed to win was going to get his. Last week he ruined the career of the beautiful super model by releasing nude pictures of her to the press. The week before he had thrown the Langston family out on the street with their eighty year old grandmother . But next week he will crash and burn. Next week the Langstons will get their revenge. Sometimes I forget it is only a TV show not real life. But I still hate him. I wish I could tell you what is going to happen but you’ll just have to tune in and see for yourself. I know you will be as happy as I am.

All fifteen words in one sentence -Listening

The powerful gangster Sunflowers Florida, Spit, and his operatic super model child bride Himonee Braggart having planted listening devices in the ginger jars at the office of the Superintendent of Police now were in a holding pattern as they listened to the busy police plot their downfall and at every word Spit thought “ this is music to my ears”.

Of course the dragons were busy today you can see them HERE.
News from Pigeon Falls
The little town in my basement where the trains still run, dragons fly, and life is back to normal
It is Saturday and time to look back over the week in Pigeon Falls but before we do that the residents of Pigeon Falls want in the most powerful way possible to wish you a Happy Fourth of July. Time to put your busy every day life in a holding pattern and just have fun. Be brave and set off a firework or two. This is a great country so go ahead and celebrate its birth.
Tuesday– Anna Johnson who is seventy years old married Raymon D. Andersen who is eighty. The wedding took place at the Happy Place nursing home where both are residents. Raymon was teased by his friends who accused him of taking a child bride. The bride had a beautiful bouquet of sunflowers. They are going on a one week honeymoon to Florida accompanied by their children who paid for the trip.
Wednesday– Grandma Moose was hanging washing on the line when she swears the rolling head came down the road. It let out a powerful sound, stuck out its tongue and then it spat at her. Her kids told her it was her imagination but she says it did spit and the icky green stuff is still on her driveway.
Thursday– Heloise who thinks she has an operatic voice reached such a level in practice that all the ginger jars in the School Superintendent's Office broke into hundred of pieces. The superintendent said “this is not music to my ears. Why couldn’t she want to be a super model?”
Her father who is a bit of a braggart said “ Someday you will see she will be a great opera singer .”
Friday– Eino was overjoyed that the plot to put up the cage had such good results.

Wrap UP
I am logging out early because the family is here and I doubt I will be back on the computer today. It has been a wonderful day. I visited all the blogs that had wordzzles and left a comment. I won't get to the blogs of those who left comments yesterday as today is just too full. The rest of the time I've spent setting off daytime fireworks with grandsons and even got four "cool"s from Caleb. Later I will need a breathing treatment.

Poor old 012, now he is in a pickle not knowing if he is having a good day or a bad day.

LOL they really need to get a better system of code names don't they?

When you're an avid follower of a 'soap' sometimes one can get so involved that one does forget it's not real life.

Himonee Braggart is a great name! :)

I think this is my favorite Agent 012 ever. It just delighted me. But so did your 10-word which made me think of my own relationship to the stupid soap operas I can't break myself from watching.

Happy 4th to you and all you love.

Happy 4th of July to you, Betty and your entire family. I hope it is a safe and good one. Poor Agent 012. One of these days everything has to go right for him for a while at least. Maybe next week Pigeon Falls will have a new sheriff and things will be reasonably normal :) Aloha

I like the Code name “The Florida Child Bride”... since it involved neither a child nor a bride and had nothing to do with Florida.

The Ida Florida story was my favorite this week. "So he shot her without her OK". Loved it.

Happy 4th of July.

I think Agent 012 should be in charge of names. He needs a sense of control.

You should never shoot someone without their permission.

This was one of those times when I laughed out loud, and then felt bad for laughing at someone's death, but I just loved it when one of the workers shot Ida Florida without her OK. You know, sometimes people who have to have total control just need to be taught a (permanent) lesson.

I liked your stories. I think Agent 012 might be having a good day so far, as they might change how the cases are named. Not knowing what the current case is about might be a plus, too. The ten word story had a funny surprise ending. I've heard of people really getting involved in the TV shows they watch, like in the mini story. I guess that's good, as it shows that the actors and writers did their jobs well. The one sentence story told an interesting story about gangsters planting bugs and listening to the police, a reverse of the usual thing. The Pigeon Falls stories were good, especially the one about the rolling head.

I very much agree with Erna Bombeck ! I think exactly the same. Fortunately they reduced the military side of the parade very much here in Belgium. I'll write about it when the day comes, we celebrate on 21th July our national day !
