News from Pigeon Falls
The little town in my basement where the trains still run, dragons fly, and life is back to normal.
According to just about everybody it was one of the best New Year's Eve celebrations in Pigeon Falls ever. There was no wind and the temperature was a mild 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The party at the Happy Pigeon was said to be great by those lucky enough to get in.
Outside people began gathering around 11:30 so they could watch the potato come down. Since the music was piped outside some even danced on the road. It had to be a weird sight. There they were people in winter coats wearing funny hats on top of their regular ones. Pigeon set up a table and provided hot coffee and cocoa at no charge.
Then the big moment arrived. Pigeon had a remote control and started the potato down as the seconds were counted off to the New Year just at 12:00 the potato hit the crowd and popped open.
According to Pigeon, at that point, coupons were supposed to fly out good for one free drink at the bar, a free cup of coffee, a free breakfast, or one free dessert. He says he loaded over 500 of them into the potato.
But when the potato opened there was a child or something like a child. It had funny ears and its feet weren’t quite right. It wore only a diaper or something that looked like a diaper. Pigeon ran into the bar and came back with a blanket that he put around it and carried it into the Happy Pigeon.
People weren’t sure but most decided it was just supposed to represent the New Year. But nobody was really sure of what it was they had just seen.
So began the New Year in Pigeon Falls.

Wrap UP
My dear bloggers it has been two days since my last wrap up. Yesterday we celebrated both Christmas and New Years. My entire nuclear family was here , both sons, their children , my daughter-in-law . We opened gifts including the mystery gift from Santa I got in the mail. It turned out to be a beautiful green dragon which was soon joined by a blue one from my grandson Luke. I also got a new bread maker that promises to be faster than the old one. We had a great meal with fondue beef and cooked ham, mashed potatoes, bread buns and of course safron buns and much more. The dogs played together and drove us nuts. The kids tried to do the same. Betty and I lost another canasta game. The only sad part was Peter and family had to leave early because of the storm.
Today we went shopping .I wanted to get to Menards to see if they had Lionel trains at half price but the one I wanted was gone by time I got there. Picked up a bookshelf for all the books we have laying around. The rest of the family went to Wal Mart and beyond after leaving me at home and picking up Pennie. I brought St. Mark's website up to date with this coming Sunday's bulletin, January newsletter, and calendar. When they got back Elijah demonstrated his new movie camera by attaching it to the main TV. I was suprised at the clarity of the picture for such a low price camera. Pat and the boys will be here until Sunday afternoon so I won't have much time on the computer. Now I need a breathing treatment.

A free baby? They have to call this one Spud. Have the Petrovich's named their kids yet?

Hmmm... and so another year begins with a new mystery! As everyone is wondering who this child is, I sit in the corner and wonder where did all those coupons go?! Did someone get into the potato, remove the coupons and replace them with this mystery child?! And will all these coupons go onto the black market and, if so, will it be possible to identify them when someone tries to use them??! Hmmm...?!

I join the others and wish you a most happy new year and to let you know I truly enjoy your posts every day.

Take care.

Somehow I "see" a visit from someone named Captain or someone named Mark in Pigeon Falls ... real soon. I dunno... just a hunch...

And now I wake up! I'm thirsty! I wonder what's in Petrovich's latest driblet!

Your saying of the day is certainly true for me. I have the weirdest dreams every night! This morning I woke to a train sraying water rushing through my bedroom. IT was only the rain. I got up and closed the window.
