New Year’s Eve was quiet enough. I was sleeping by 9:00 and then got up at ten minutes to twelve and celebrated with Pennie and Betty the coming of the New Year.
I thought I was going to spend a quiet New Year’s Day at home working on my blog. On Monday the changes take place and I don’t have everything ready yet. But my daughter and my wife decided we should go to Peter’s for the day. So we went.
We did have a great day at Peter’s.

This blog has to take less time so I can work with the train layout and get some E-bay stuff done.

Herman got up early this morning and began to get ready to teach the first Saturday Bible Class of the New Year. He really wanted this class to be special and so he had put a lot of work into its preparation.
For some reason which he couldn’t understand he woke up with the word “ Shazam” running through his mind. The local kid’s show on TV ran one chapter of the old Marvel serial every week when Herman was young.. He hadn’t thought of that show or that word in years, not since as a boy. Then he had said it over and over hoping to become a super hero like Captain Marvel, It never worked.
But today the word had just suddenly popped up in his head. The more he tried to concentrate on other things the more he thought of that word. It made no sense. Finally he thought “ Perhaps, if I say it out loud it will clear my mind”. So he took a deep breath and said “ Shazam””
There was a burst of lightning and suddenly standing there in your standard super hero costume was Captain Herman. Herman thought “ This has got to be a dream and any moment I will wake up.” He waited but nothing changed. Then he said “ Shazam” again . There was a bolt of lightning and plain old Herman returned.
At that point his wife came into the kitchen. She said “ I swear Herman I thought I saw a flash of something in here.”
Herman said “ Shazam”. The bolt of lightning returned , followed by Captain Herman. At that point his wife fainted.
Herman Shazamed himself back to plain old Herman and got some water to put on her face.
“What was that” she said as she returned to consciousness .
“I think it was magic” Herman said.” Let’s hope it wears off like all the other spells have. Then he went back to preparing for the Bible Study.
