More Christmas Pictures

Today's Saying
The great gift of family life is to be intimately acquainted with people you might never even introduce yourself to, had life not done it for you. ~Kendall Hailey,

At the Fortress we are in a race to get our Christmas decorations up before Christmas. I thought I would share with you this morning how far we have come.
Let's start with our outdoor manger scene.
It had one good night and then the blizzard hit and now it needs to be shoveled out.

Coming inside:

Here is our Firplace all decorated.

That is done. I think.

This is our manger scene.
If you click on it you will see it is really three manger scenes.

These are our angels watching over the manger.

Finally our tree.
The star leans and looks as if it will fall off.
The ornaments are the leftovers as we can't find the regular one's that we have used for years.
Who knows where we stored them this time.
But the tree has ornaments, bead garland, and all the lights work.
You can cause the tree to light and rotate and the train to run from a wireless remote you can use anywhere in the room.
It is a fun tree.
Click on the picture to see better.

Eugene returned from the mountain yesterday afternoon. He went and talked with Mayor Trumble and Chief Ican. It seems when he got to the cottage Susan wasn't there but she left him a note.
First she had put a protective spell over Pigeon Falls to keep it from being sent back to the past again. That was the good news. The bad news was that she was gone to California to help a gypsy and wouldn't be back until early next year. It looks like they just have to hope the kid doesn't cast any really weird spells while they wait for her to come back.
Chief Ican said there may be another solution. He said " When I was Chief of a big city police department we had a man who was using magic to kill people as well as steal. Somebody put me in contact with this fellow , Dr. Jim. He was a retired college Professor who was very much into magic. He had even taken some kind of vow to help those that were being hurt by magic. Well, he came and we found out who the man was and he helped us capture him and control the villian's magic powers.
I'll try to contact him. He might think this is interesting enough to come and help us even though we don't have a villan since people could end up getting hurt."
Mrs. Trumble and Eugene both thought that Chief Ican should try to get Dr. Jim to come to Pigeon Falls.

Nice job Dr. John. Your home looks warm and inviting. I do feel sorry for the outdoor manger however. Yet I am glad that we don't have that snow yet. Love Di

Oh boy. There are numerous people that I was tossed into knowing that I'm just not sure I was really MEANT to know! Sometimes I think I was given unto them so that I would be able to catch on to the idea of WHO our brothers and sisters REALLY are - the way Jesus meant it!

I love seeing all your decorations! I'm planning a post about all my Nativities sometime soon. One is up on my FIRST post today (yes! Two posts in one day!)... I think you'll like it!

I understand the Mayor and Eugene and Chief Ican's angst over this magic... but really... it's a child! It certainly won't do much harm. Well... unless Mama reads How The Grinch Stole Christmas ... or something like that! I DO hope though that Dr. Jim will come. It certainly is a mystery that needs solving!

Wow, that was a lot of snow! We got a little here too today but not that much.

Interesting to get to see the indoor decorations too! I think I may have said it before but my dad would love a Christmas tree with a train running around it...

Dr. John, your house is looking very nice and festive in keeping with the spirit of Christmas.
We don't have an outdoor manger scene, seems we never catch one one sale. I was too lazy and busy to make one when I worked, now I don't have the ambition since I've retired.
..
Happy Ides of December! Only six more days until Winter.

Please thank the Chief and Eugene. I have come to respect that Eugene more and more since he has gone on the wagon.

Before I would come Mayor Trumble needs to agree on this. Probably the townspeople as well.

Last of all, I think the final discretion should rest upon the writer's discretion. After all he will be aptly scripting my acting part of the story.

I will waive all fees for this. But no conract as my malpractice insurance is not and will not be renewed. Insurance is much too expensive for what little I could charge anymore.
For that reason all my work is gratis (Google that word).

We got the tree up about two weeks ago, last week, our friend gifted us with the wreath for the front door. The stepgranddaughter took some leftover branches and put them in the bow windowsill, with some tiny white lights twined in those branches -looks nice but the cats (and the dog) like to get up in that windowsill and kept knocking the decoration there down. So yesterday, Mandy moved the sofa in front of the windowsill to try to keep the animals away or at least not able to knock the trim down so easily. No outside decorations on this place though so you're way ahead of us on that one. I don't know what happened to my wooden Swedish tree-candle holder though -holds I think 8 of the small candles that seem to be sold only at those Swedish stores online and I like to have it as a centerpiece on our table for Christmas Eve supper. May have to order a new one if it doesn't appear soon.

I don't think Christmas tress are supposed to be perfect. Perfect trees have no charm. Your leaning tree has tons of charm!

I think Dr. Jim is a good idea. If I were in Pigeon Falls I would be all for calling him!

A remote controlled rotating tree with train set. Fancy dancy. :) I should mention it to my step-dad. He's a train enthusiast, but hasn't been able to participate for the last couple of years. But my mother may never forgive me. LOL ;)

I came back tonight because I forgot to THANK you for giving me a wee small glimps at the outdoor manger scene over the hill of snow! And to tell you that if you spray paint the snow TAN, it will look like the desert and be perfectly acceptable!
