Six Words Still Again

Today's Saying

History was a trash bag of random coincidences torn open in a wind. Surely, Watt with his steam engine, Faraday with his electric motor, and Edison with his incandescent light bulb did not have it as their goal to contribute to a fuel shortage some day that would place their countries at the mercy of Arab oil. ~Joseph Heller

My Life Goes Round and Round

It is Saturday and the end of a strange week in Pigeon Falls.
Now the town seems to be in the year 1890 desperately trying to get back to 2009.
Thanks to Tommy UK a potential medical disaster was averted as he used his power to reproduce the medicines people had with them.
People have been busy learning to pump water( You have to remember to keep some water to prime the pump with) and be comfortable using an outhouse with its maleolent odor.
They have also had to learn how to handle horses and there have been a number of carriage accidents that ended up with tipped over carriages but no broken bones. That’s good because the nearest hospital is in Marquette run by the Sisters of Mercy and you have to wait for the train to take you there.
But the good people of Pigeon Falls are adjusting to life in this Pigeon Falls.
Eino keeps saying this is all an illusion caused by some kind of mass hypnotism but he is trying to fit in illusion or not.
A working group has been formed that is searching for a way back. They are both studying the driblet and looking at other possibilities.
Mrs. Trumble suggested that Tommy open a doorway to another dimension and they could try to find one that spans time. Tommy thought that might be possible but there are two problems. First they have to move an entire town and second they don’t know where that dimension is. They could just as easily drop into some kind of black hole and be lost forever.
One has to wonder what the poor dragons think as they find themselves in another time. They , after all, had nothing to do with the curse.

Eventually, we all come full circle.

I think the dragons will adapt to any surrounding because they're magical ;)

Very interesting quote for today! Wonder what they would say -or do -if they only knew the havoc those inventions have created? (Isn't Mr. Heller also the author of "Catch 22"?

we go ’round and ’round and ’round
till we stop whirling.

Life does go round and round and too fast.

What would be wrong with staying in the 1890's?

PBS had a show on where folks had to go and live in the past. It was very interesting. They had to wear authentic clothing, cook on a wood stove, cut enough wood to see them through the winter, garden, and much more. It showed many different eras and was so interesting.

I think what appeals to me is the simplicty of that life. One could live fully in the moment, even if challenging.

Today's saying is one of the most thoughtful quotes yet!!! I LOVE it! And I'm certain it is true!

ROFL! Eino needs to wake up and smell the coffee! Ya know... the dragons are probably enjoying the trip... I'm sure Mama is MUCH older than 120 ... and she may be enjoying sharing the little ones with some older relatives! Those little dragons may be learning from some verrrrry WISE old dragons! They might have never had this opportunity without Eino's ... well... you know. No good harping... they just need to find the solution. But the dragons may be able to HELP!

Hi Dr. John, I am sorry I didn't get back after you left your 'invisible' comment. Things have been hectic here and I haven't caught up since my Birthyay Holiday run-away.

Pigeon Falls is having it tough. Did you ever see the play, Brigadoon? Your situation reminds me of those people an awfully lot.
I've seen both the play and the bridge, in Houston and in Scotland.
Tidbits:
My Doctorate is earned too.
Do you need some more help with the driblets?
Believe it or not, rural Eastern Nebraska was like that Pigeon Falls in my early childhood. Differences, we had a Model A and a crank phone. And horses and outhouses and no electricity.
Happy 6WS!

Your Six Word Saturday reminds me of a song. :) As a history person, I've often thought of what it would be like to life in past times, but I'm not sure about being transported without warning. And you bring up a good point about when people start dying because they don't have modern medicine available. Some horrible diseases were still prevalent at that time. It certainly is an interesting twist in the story.

Round and round and round we go ....

I know that Pigeon Falls will either return to 2009, or the people will make wonderful new lives for themselves where they are.
